Sleep, Glorious SLEEP!

I'd really like to hear anything and everything that you're willing to share about SLEEP. How much do you average in a 24-hour period? Does that feel like that's usually enough for you... or too much... or maybe too much? Do you usually wake feeling refreshed.. or still exhausted?

For me, up until recently I was getting about 4 hours a night and the occasional nap (1 - 2 hours) during the day. Of course, this didn't even come close to being enough... and once every week or so, my body would just crash! Then (whether or not I wanted to) there would be at least two very lengthy naps. Even then, because I was so overtired, it still wasn't enough!

For the last few weeks, while trying to keep the leg swelling under control, I've been lying down for as much of the day (and night, of course) for as much as my boredom level will allow! Even with a really good book to read and two furry little men who would joyfully cuddle all day long, the vast majority of that time is spent sleeping! Two or three hours at a time, up for meds then back to bed... with a longer sleep at night. Total for the day... about 18 - 20 hours! I'm not sure if this is due to the MS or if it's just my body's way of trying to heal but for now I'm just going along for the ride.

So... these days, I average about 4 hours at night (usually approx. 2am - 6am) and then one or two shorter 'sleeps' (too heavy to really call them naps) in late morning and other various times during the day. If I'm really exhausted, my body just shuts down around 7pm and sleeps a good 2 or 3 extra hours... which would be great except then there i am - awake AGAIN when most of the world (or so it seems) is in bed!
