AN: Hello folks! I'm back, posting a new prologue chapter to a new Crossover I've been working on. I'd like to give a quick lowdown on the characters and synopsis so readers of both fandoms can understand what's going on -and the changes I've made.

This will be an alternate universe approach to the bionic origin story for Steve (and eventually jaime??) subbing in MARVEL's Howard Stark for Rudy Wells. It will feature an alternate view to the whole "Steve-getting-his-bionics" thing, but not exactly in the focal point of Steve, rather his young son, Tony Stark (later to become Iron Man). Tony is a genius and an adorable small child who makes a special bond with Steve (and Oscar) but is constantly hurt emotionally and physically by his father who is a bit of a drunk and feels that Tony is a disappointment to his image. Little background..

Howard Stark- Genius, millionaire, playboy, celebrity, scientist, amateur pilot, co-creator of "Project Rebirth" which created Captain America. Is haunted to drink due to the fact that his close friend, Steve Rogers (Captain America) was lost and presumed dead. Feels that he is a disappointment and a failure but transfers that feeling into hate towards his son.

Steve Rogers- Captain America; former scrawny kid from Brooklyn who was deemed Unacceptable into the Army during WW2. That is until he was confronted by those in Project Rebirth who transformed him into a tall, muscular, virtually invincible man through the Super Soldier Serum. In modern day (2000s) he was been found alive, buried in Arctic Ice for generations. Friend to and team mate with adult Tony Stark.

Steve Austin- Our own Bionic Man. (Yes there are 2 STEVES so pay attention while reading!!). Austin is the traditional astronaut/test pilot we all know and love and is injured in a similar crash which causes the loss of limbs. He is takne to Howard Stark's mansion to be made bionic, where he meets a young and terrified Tony. He bonds with Tony and becomes more of a father to him than Howard could ever be. (ADORABLE FLUFF BASICALLY).

Tony Stark- Genius inventor, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, super hero; Iron Man. In the 70s, is a happy but abused child who will do anything to please his father or make him stop drinking. Bonds with Austin and wishes to leave and never have to see Howard again.

Oscar Goldman
- Good Old lovable Oscar. Head of OSI who witnesses a display of Stark Industries bionic models and recruits Stark to make bionics exclusively for the government. Also bonds with Tony and tries to get Howard to stop hurting him.

Still reading?? WOW! Through all that exposition? I can't even imagine it.
Well, here's your reward! Short prologue chapter set in modern day. More coming soon if people like this idea.

Prologue/Teaser chapter

"Steve..." Stark began only to be interrupted by the blonde at his side.

"Huh?" Rogers replied.

"Not you dimwit!" Tony groaned and rolled his eyes, gesturing at the grave marker which stood in front of them.

"Oh- Sorry!" Steve shifted uncomfortably and took a few steps away.

"ANYWAYS..." Tony turned back to addressing the stone. "So...uh...Steve, well now you've met the other Steve...the one who started it all. You two were my dad's greatest creations... It’s actually a miracle he didn’t name me Steve too!" He chuckled dryly. "Well...I uh...you probably already know this... but uh, Jaime's died...And um...well, you probably already know...Probably up there together running laps at the speed of light up there... but... You know... just wanted to tell you." Tony swallowed with difficulty, trying to hold back the tears that brimmed into his eyes. "I just wanted to come talk to ya now cause I'll of course speak at the funeral, but I’ll have to give the perfect celebrity-billionaire speech then and well...that's not what I want to say... You were a way better father to me than Howard ever was... and Jaime, a way better mom... I... uh... I’ll miss you both so much. And Oscar too, he'll probably be up there with ya soon. After Jaime- well, he's not doing too well. None of the old gang left now... But, don't worry, I'll take care of him for you, and make sure that Jaime's placed here with you...Erm well... Thanks Steve...see you soon... love ya."

Tony reached out a tentative hand and quickly touched the top of the stone, his fingers ghosting over the names that were engraved there: Steven Austin - Colonel US Air Force- Vietnam- Astronaut, Agent, Friend- and Jaime Sommers Austin -PhD- Beloved Teacher, Friend, and Wife.

After a silent moment, the two Avengers trod off through the grass of the hill on the Ojai farm, to their small helicopter waiting nearby. Steve got in the chopper while Tony took one last second to look back again at the beautiful field, and the lonely gravemarker. With a small sigh, the hero slid into the plane and turned to his team mate.

"You ready?" the Captain asked. "Good, 'cause we've got a mission to do."

Sitting in front of the TV, watching an old rerun of The Big Valley, eating a Heath bar, while wearing a pair of sturdy Lee Jeans, a NASA baseball cap, and a "Colt's" hoodie; all while a paperback copy of "Cyborg" lays nearby...ah...the perfect image of a true fangirl of the great Lee Majors....

I've never seen an episode of The Avengers but the exposition at the beginning got me right 'into the action' seamlessly. Thank you for once again choosing to share your talent with us; I'll be waiting eagerly for Chapter One!
