I like seeing the different dinners from different cites. It kind of reminds me of my father and I, well we didn't have a whole lot of money, but we did like trying different place to eat :) when we traveled at the time. Plus I do like to cook. :D

BTW How are the books?

Tab, the books are great! There's a lot of behind-the-scenes info (especially in the 2nd book) and each 'chapter' has a recipe from the eatery that was visited in that episode. Even a recipe for Captain Crunch French Toast! (Yum!)

Thank for the pic, Tab; he is funny.
In France we haven't got him. We have just Crunch, a crispy chocolate because it contains blow rice.

I've looked about the definition of French toasts in my dictionnary and I understand that it's slices of bread cooked with butter in a pan. How are you doing Captain Crunch French Toast? You add the cereals to the bread? Or you do a king of pancake with the cereals and you cook it in the pan?

I know an easy recipe with breackfast cereals.

You need:
- 200g of black chocolate
- 100g of margarine (I use butter, I prefer with it)
- a pack of cornflakes.

Prepare a tray by putting a shhet of aluminium on it.
Tthen, melt chocolate and butter using bain-marie or microwave. Mix them.
Put the cornflakes and coat them with then with the melted chocolate and butter.
Use two tablespoons for doing litle balls and put them on the tray
Let the tray at least one hour in refrigerator.

It's called "roses des sables" (gypsum flowers) . It's not good for the figure @#$ but it's yummy! tdso

Cap'n Crunch French Toast

3/4 cup heavy cream
3 large eggs , lightly beaten
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups Cap'n Crunch cereal
8 -10 slices bread, such as Texas toast or 8 -10 slices French bread
butter (for cooking)

TOPPING

1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups fresh seasonal berries , assorted

Directions:

1
In large bowl, mix together cream, eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Whisk until well combined.
2
Crush cereal by placing in plastic storage bag and rolling over it with a rolling pin. Once it resembles cracker meal, transfer to a shallow dish.
3
Moisten a couple pieces of bread in cream mixture until soft but not completely soaked. Allow excess liquid to drip off bread, then press into the cereal crumbs to coat evenly. Set on a sheet pan and repeat with remaining slices.
4
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Adding butter as needed, cook bread on both sides until it caramelizes, about 6 to 8 minutes total.

5
TOPPING:.
6
In large bowl using a hand mixer beat the cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
7
Dollop on top of the French toast and serve with the berries.

Tab...no I haven't. But it's a best-seller at a cafe that was featured in Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, a show on the food network.
