I always like Animation. Everything that was available in the 70's/80's till today. I even enjoy Spongebob Squarepants. My favorites from recently (fairly recently), are Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory. My favorite animated Movie of late was How to Train Your Dragon, because Toothless the Dragon looks like my late and first cat, Morgan (a boy).

When I was young, my Grandmother and I watched The Six Million Dollar Man and Carol Burnett. And we all watched MASH. I was very young but enjoyed all those shows, there really was not much choice because we had 2 TV's. One was my Granfather's. I ended up really loving SMDM and then the Bionic Woman, and on Tuesdays after swim practice, I got to watch Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. Maybe Three's Company, but I was a bit young for that.

I didn't watch TV much through the Eighties, my private High School was so competetive, I just went to school, studied, and then to swim practice, with no real time for TV. I watched a lot of MTV, to see popular videos of the music of the day. My favorite video was the Animated-like video for Take On Me, by A-Ha. now, there's not so much music on MTV, reality stuff, they don't really play music anymore. Unless you pay for the fancy cable and get the other Music channels but that doesn't come with basic Cable.

Today I enjoy watching Criminal Minds and Law and Order: SVU. I watch the News Channels a lot, but recently I am tired of all the politics. It's very frustrating. I like to be well-informed, but the news can be depressing and irritating. Sometimes I wonder why people think the way they do... When I go to visit my Gradmother, who is about 87, She enjoys CSI, NCIS, and Bones. I always watch her programs when I visit with her. I will see her again in a couple weeks.

I also enjoy watching sit-coms like Seinfeld, New Adventure of Old Christine (both in reruns), and lately, The Big Bang Theory. I love those guys. Its just like the guys in my High school, very geeky guys. Also reminds me that I loved the very short lived show Freaks and Geeks from like 10yrs ago maybe even longer.., Very much like how it was in the late-seventies (the freak part) and eighties (the geek part), for me in Suburban New Jersey. I sort of miss being a young person, but then I remember how hard it was back then, so I guess I like revisiting through TV...

I just got the Special Edition Yearbook Box-Set of "Freaks and Geeks", from one of my favorite shops, Newbury Comics, on Newbury Street in Boston. They sell CD's, Records, T-Shirts, all manner of Pop Culture items, oh, Comic Books, and DVD's, esp. at a discount. I was so psyched when I saw this Box set on the shelf I swooped it up right away.

I loved this show. It took place in 1980 and followed a bunch of stoners, we would call them burn-outs, and a bunch of geeks, nerds. I really feel like I knew all the characters here. There were definite archetypes in the show, real 3 dimensional portraits of the kids, not characatures. I was younger than these kids in 1980, but I felt like I had witnessed both sides of the coin, nonetheless. Show takes place around Detroit, but much of it could have taken place anywhere, like where I grew up in NJ.

The show illustrates that time period exceptionally well, the music, the backgrounds, and the pop culture of the late 70's, early eighties. There are clips of Barney Miller, Charlie's Angels, Dallas, Saturday Night Live, and Gary Shandling doing stand-up. Also there are some great scenes where one of the Geeks (a boy) dresses as Jaime Sommers for Halloween. Fun-ny! And the out-takes are hysterical.

I enjoy listening to all the commentary on special edition CD's to get perspective from the writers, directors, actors, and so forth. I always like boxed sets like the Time-Life Six Million Dollar Man because of all those extras. I recommend the Time Life Boxed set if you like that stuff, and also Freaks and Geeks if you like pop culture circa 1980. Not as funny as "That 70's Show", but as a dramedy, it is way more complex and nuanced. It is funny, bittersweet, and sometimes, cringeworthy, kind of like high school. Only 18 episodes. They could have done so much more if not for network politics and the ratings machine.

Judd Apatow is a producer (before he was famous), and also stars James Franco, Seth Rogan, Jason Segal, Linda Cardellini, and John Francis Daley (they were so young- filmed in 1999.). Oh, and Joe Flaherty from SCTV. Everything here is amazing!

Talking about Freaks and Geeks reminded me of another show I loved, 'back in the day' - Square Pegs!

Many of you have mentioned various series I've watched over the years. My message would be MASSIVE if I mentioned everything. I'm surprised there aren't any Star Trek fans here. Or maybe I missed it. I always liked Star Trek The Original Series and the various spin offs. One of my absolute favorites has always been Deep Space 9. But I do like The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise too.

Speaking of special couples, besides Steve and Jamie, I have always had a special love for Quinton and Nola on Guiding Light. Right now, I'm watching Days of Our Lives because I use to watch it years ago and got back to it after Guiding Light was cancelled. Oh, speaking of couples, I also like Donny and Marie Osmond. I've even seen them live in Las Vegas. They were here live in Pittsburgh during Christmas. It was a great show. Even though they're brother and sister, they are a really fun pair.

Was wondering if anyone here watches Once Upon A Time? Just started to watch the show. It's one of the few adult-ish shows I feel comfortable watching with my daughter in the room, unlike my other adult shows -- Grimm, Criminal Minds, or Sleepy Hollow. Think one could say I'm already a Rumbelle fan, but I've always loved the story of Beauty and the Beast, particularly after I saw La Belle et La Bete by Jean Cocteau one night on TV late in the 80's. Amazing!

I haven't seen it yet, but my daughter loves it - and it seems that quite a few of my Facebook friends do, too!
