But she did...in that candid photo you posted....Or was that Lindsay? I think it was a deleted scene ![]() Maybe Jaime was too shy to say anything to Oscar in response to his jealous little comment in that scene. I mean, it wasn't like he professed undying love for her. What if she responded, and then he's asks her what she's doing??? |

Yes it's all much easier for both of them if they leave it unspoken! |

But by leaving unspoken, they never get a chance for their relationship to deepen. Maybe it already is? Why the hesitancy? |

Are they waiting for the other to make the first step? I think if Oscar was more open about his feelings she would be too. |

That's what I think was going on the whole season - each was afraid to make that first step, probably out of fear of it not being reciprocated, then you have that awkward feeling of having it hanging out there. Although, you'd think she could have engaged in a little suggestive banter to elicit a more intimate response from him. LIke when he said " I didn't notice", she could have picked up on that and said.... |

You're going to have to finish that one OJ. Suggestive banter is not my forte! I think it never goes anywhere because he's a gentleman and he thinks it would be inappropriate. That's why he waits to tell her he loves her until she doesn't work for him anymore. Either that or they're already so intimate they don't need to lay it all on the table! |

I think you're right. While she's working for him they don't take it any further. That's why when he visits her after she resigns she's much more open about how delighted she is to see him, the closeness is more than just a brief hug and of course he tells her he loves her. There's definitely something different between them in that scene. It's like they can finally take what they've been feeling for so long a step further. However by the time they see each other again in that episode he's back to being her boss! |

Well, I certainly don't want to offend anyone with suggestive O/J banter. Look where waiting got him though - Jaime in the arms of Chris at the end. I don't think Jaime would think him ungentlemanly if he expressed his feelings for her. He would have done it tastefully of course, and I never saw her as an actual employee in the traditional sense - more of an independent contractor - that's why he has to ASK her to take the assignment. She never asked to be bionic, never signed anything with the government. Even Oscar initially rejected her offer to take assignments. I don't think SHE was holding back because of their perceived boss/employee relationship, I think HE was. I like to think she was WAITING for some suggestive banter...

Yes, I can see that it would be her waiting for him. She probably realized why he was holding back. I think that's why she was so excited about his first visit to her after she left the OSI. Was she hoping he was coming to take that step? She was certainly giving him enough opportunities. |

Were you thinking of offensive suggestive banter, OJ? Because now I really want to hear what you had in mind! Those are good points you make. It's funny how you sometimes feel the writers held them back from what was should have happened - like they were real people who had to have plots written for them through no choice of their own! |

I never said I had offensive banter in mind - just suggestive - not crude or explicit. I'm not THAT bad!
I just said I wouldn't want to offend anyone.I think it's more fun to come up with my own endings for the episodes, whether Oscar is a gentleman or not - and I don't think it's particularly ungentlemanly for him to politely express some sentiment towards her. I just think the writer's missed an opportunity for a great story line between the two of them. Besides, there have been other couples on TV in quasi-boss/employee relationships that have worked out - look at Sam and Diane in Cheers - or Moonlighting, or Remington Steele. Yes, they came later, but not THAT much later. |

Oscar was never set up to have any real place in a romance. I still think he was just a supporting actor and that they never would have allowed him to get that much limelight. The thing between him and Jaime was entirely their invention. |
