aawwwww....nooo Oscar a chauvinist?? NEVER!!!
There are sooo many scenes where he is just short of drooling over Jamie...and some lines are just sooo....in love...the looks and the voice...the timbre in his voice...."...and besides..i have seen you once in a cowboy dress....."..and all the time he tells her how good she looks in...almost everything...
no doubtr about the fact that he loves her...truly and deeply...but never let it show too much..

And who doesn't love Jamie, once met? Rudy sure loves her also...

and Steve....i don't have to tell you that HE surely does...;)

Hell, I love Jamie!! *fg* yide 432q18

I still have to gather my thoughts about bionicon1. But someone asked Richard Anderson if Oscar loved Jaime as a freind or really loved her. Richard asked him "what do you think?" The questioner said, " I think he really was in love with her."

Richard gave him a thumbs up and said "you're right"

Sigh

Wasn't every man on the planet a chauvinist in the 70's? Steve certainly was. And I hate to admit it, but Oscar could seem, well, a touch patronizing at times. And how is it he managed to find her assignments where she had to show skin? Like the lady wrestler assignment? He must have been really excited about that one.
Was Rudy a chauvinist? He seemed less so to me.

LOL was it Oscar ...or the writers?

Maybe it was just a case of Richard having a thing for Lindsay. Jaime was suppose to be pretty close to LW's own personality after all.

Steve was most definitely a chauvinist! When he was in his kitchen, telling Oscar he wouldn't allow his wife to work as an operative, Jaime overhears and joins them, telling Steve "You can't speak for me."
The look on Steve's face (he was dumbfounded!) - priceless!

Chauvinist or not, was Oscar supposed to be Jewish?

I'm not sure, but I think so. The writers certainly gave him a stereotypically Jewish name.

I had heard that he was. I don't remember where I read it... It had something to do with his last name in "Winning is Everything." tho.

Apparently the service for his brother had a reading from the Torah, but Oscar didn't have his head covered as he should have. Probably network execs thought it would freak people out. (People apparently used to freak out easily)

So he MUST be Jewish. I like it. I wish they'd played it up a little more.

I don't think so. Usually it's the other way around where Jewish people play gentiles - not vice versa!

There was a HUGE blooper in that funeral scene...
Did anyone else notice it? (It was still an extremely well-acted scene - wasn't the actors who screwed up.)

Yes, James Caan who is Jewish played a very convincing Italian in "The Godfather" and was even nominated for an Oscar.
