I have a small (but growing) collection of nostalgic toys. Steve and Jaime are perched on top of my computer monitor, and I've also got Growing Hair Chrissy, Dawn and her Fashion Show (it still works!), Rock-m-Sock-m-Robots and a vintage Ken doll from approximately 1963. I have about a half dozen singing hamster, and there is a tribe of Furbys sitting on one of my shelves, but they came from momentary insanity!

What do you collect?

I do, but I'm pretty bad. I need to practice..and maybe get some lessons!

B4E are you primarily collecting toys you had as a kid?

Pretty much, but I never had Steve or Jaime then, because I was just a few months past the doll stage. I had a lot of Dawn Dolls, but never had a single Barbie. (Wa-a-ah!) Bought myself a repro Solo in the Spotlight a couple of years ago, and my mom recently gave me the vintage Ken.

When I bought the Growing Hair Chrissy, I was amazed to see that her dress had a barely visible stain in exactly the same place as my old Chrissy doll did.

Don't feel bad about not having any Barbie Dolls as a kid b4e, because Dawn Dolls were way cooler anyway. I remember getting her Fashion Show that you mentioned, for Christmas in 1971. At least I think it was the Fashion Show. I know there was a stage involved, but they also made a Beauty Pagent Stage and a Dance Stage, so it may have been one of those. Anyway, did you ever have a Talking Mrs. Beasley Doll b4e? She was another one of my most cherished childhood toys.

To be totally honest, I have always really disliked Barbie. I remember thinking how pathetic it was that her feet were in permanent high heel position. And that her arms didn't bend. Pathetic!

Now that's a typical mother/daughter relationship! Mom has all the old sentimental stuff you just can't live with and just can't part with!
