I was just watching "Welcome Home Jaime" and at the end when she and Oscar are wrapping up, she asks how Steve is and Oscar says he sends his love. Then when Jaime says "Well give him mine too." Oscar doesn't reply, just gives her one of those sparky, admiring looks he does so well, and it's as though she recognizes that there is something extra going on between the two of them (Oscar and Jaime, I mean) and breaks the moment by changing the subject. It's another great moment! You know, even though I get frustrated by their relationship, I also love the way it's all left as undercurrents. It's hot. |

Oh, I agree (big surpirse ), it is TOTALLY hot... I also like the episodes in the police academy and the desert race where he gives her these smoldering looks - yet she foolishly chooses the guest star. I like the way they are so comfortable with each other - I think that just adds to the tension - you keep waiting to see when they recognize it themselves... There was one episode (I can't remember which one) where Oscar kinda teases her about some guy she's seeing.. Seemed like he implied there was a string of them, with a tinge of jealousy in his voice.

That's really cute! She is so shy and does not know what to say. I simply love the way Oscar looks at her.

Did you guys ever think that Oscar (like most men probably did) just found Jaime to be smokin hot, but wasn't in love with her? Haven't any of you ever gone a little ga-ga in the presence of a gorgeous guy before...did that mean that you were necessarily in love with that guy? I think if the writers wanted us to think he was secretly in love with Jaime, they would have showed us somehow...showed him having a fantasy about her...or talking to himself about it...or maybe even having someone like Steve, Rudy or Callahan mention that they thought Oscar was in love with Jaime. I know I know...Richard said he played it like Oscar was in love with Jaime...but honestly, I think that was more about Richard's feelings towards LW than what he felt Oscar's feelings for Jaime should be. How did he really play it like he was in love with her...some pecks on the cheek...some hugs...certain looks or a certain tone in his voice at times...compliments on her looks? And Jaime was even less enthused...she never complimented him on his looks and she'd flaunt other men in his face. Also, even though they joked around with each other, it was never the least bit suggestive. In fact, even the joking around was usually work related...they rarely talked personally. Jaime never asked him if he was dating anyone. "On The Run" was about as personal as they ever got and although there was a nice hug in that one...they never even kissed...not even a peck on the cheek...even after thinking they'd never see each other again. Maybe I'm wrong, but I kind of get the feeling that the thing with most of you O/J shippers is really more about being an Oscar/Richard fan than really thinking that something was going on between O & J. |

I think the attraction was absolutely not written, but the actors played it. The writers didn't want to develop a romantic relationship between them, so it remained unstated. They give each other a lot of warm looks - so at the very least they have a great affection for each other. It could also be love, or just a flirtation. If Oscar andJaime ever acknowledged their attraction, it would complicate both of their lives a lot, not to mention the show. I think that's what makes it powerful. It's all in how you want to see it. Steve and Jaime shippers see a grand and glorious romance for the ages. To me, it's a little flat. Non O/J fans don't want to see a romantic attraction between Oscar and Jaime, so you don't. It's not just that I find Richard hot. If that were the case I wouldn't care who he paired up with. It's the flirtatiousness between them that gets me. And the fact that I think they make a charming couple. |

I agree, it's what you DON'T see between them that makes their relationship so sexy...It leaves it to the viewer's imagination what MIGHT be going on. Quite frankly, before the reunion movies, Jaime only kisses Steve a few times. There is that smoldering scene by the fire, but otherwise, what's the big deal? I mean, she was just his high school sweetheart. I shudder to think what would have happened if hooked up as an adult with mine...yikes! They've changed so much. How much could he care if he didn't even know she was a top 5 player? AND he was engaged to someone else.... Oscar probably does think she is smokin', but he doesn't seem to ogle other women, so maybe Jaime IS special to him. I think he just doesn't want to tell her how he feels....Maybe he's just shy around her because he IS so in love. And if dating other people means she isn't interested, I would think the same would apply to Steve. I also like Richard Anderson, but I REALLY like the charachter of Oscar. I think he does a GREAT job in most of the episodes, and makes the most out of the scripts the writers gave him. I think he and LW had a great on screen chemistry - much better than with LM. When you see current interviews or clips with her and LM, they seem cold and distant together, but she seems quite comfortable and friendly with Richard. |

Good argument but I'm afraid I will never agree. From the first time I saw these shows it was clear there was something special between them and not father/daughter. That was Rudy's relationship. OK, you're right, it is not the overt gushing, 'You are the love of my life', that you see from Steve, but Oscar's a different personality--much deeper, serious, quiet. He's in love with her no doubt, but has a different way of expressing it or maybe the hugs, pecks on the cheek, adoring looks, the joking were as far as he felt he could go. In Return of TBW & SMDM, Jaime says 'You knew I would remember about Steve' and he says 'Yes'. Is that why he never took it any further? He knew someday she would remember Steve? It's true their relationship isn't written like Steve and Jaime's but that's what makes it so more intriguing. It's the little hints---and not so little ones. You can't watch the embrace in 'Deadly Ringer 2' without feeling the emotion there. You mention the hug in 'On the Run'. He's making the greatest sacrifice of letting her go to find what she wants. I see that as a deeper love than if he kissed her passionately. Her happiness is more important. The emotional struggle they both have in that scene is very apparent. I honestly never felt such intense feelings in any scene between her and Steve. It's really heartbreaking when he turns to leave and she clearly doesn't want him to go. Sorry, I know you would like it to be down to liking Oscar/ Richard and wishful thinking on my part but I don't agree. |

If Richard said he played it like Oscar was in love with her, then Oscar was in love with Jaime and that's all there is to it. That's the actor's power and his prerogative - to add what he wants to a performance to make it rich and interesting. I'm happy the writers didn't make their relationship overt, because they likely would have made a mess of it! Besides, why does it matter to you if Oscar was in love with Jaime? Or if she felt something for him? |

While it was never directly mentioned that they were in love, there was comment on their closeness by other characters. Hanson in 'The Jailing of Jaime' doesn't think Oscar can be objective about her and mentions Oscar's 'high regard' for her to the Secretary. In 'Kill Oscar' again Hanson talks about her 'strong emotional attachment' to Oscar. And she clearly shows it in that episode by her reaction to the order to kill him. Maybe Jaime doesn't compliment him on his looks but she gives him an even better compliment on the tennis court in Welcome Home, Jaime. When they are discussing her working for him, she says 'You are supposed to be a cold blooded bureaucrat'--meaning she knows he isn't. The smile he gives her after that is wonderful. In 'Angel of Mercy' she asks him on the phone, 'Can you stop to see me?' when he calls from the plane. At that point she didn't know he was coming about an assignment. She just wanted to see him. The one time he shows the slightest interest in other women ( Jaime and the King) she is clearly jealous. In 'Jailing of Jaime', Oscar is willing to give up his career for her. He's about as high up in government as anyone can get without being in the Cabinet along with all the power and prestige that goes with the job and he's ready to resign. You don't do that for someone you 'just find to be smokin hot'. |

And also in Kill Oscar, Franklin comments that "the girl was particularly concerned for you." Plus all the looks and touches. And that embrace at the end of "Fembots in Vegas". Another thing, in "Iron Ships" she says "Oscar, you never told me you had a brother" with a vocal inflection as if that was some major and grevious omission on his part. If they were just co-workers, what obligation would he have to tell her about his family? |

All very true! Yes, it seems as though Jaime is surprised she's doesn't know about that part of his life. It seems to imply they had many conversations about things other than work and she can't understand why it's never come up before. |

He takes extra care of her in Jailing of Jaime. He stands protectively behind her in the office, getting angry when they seem to imply she was involved in the theft. He also seems very concerned for her in Angel of Mercy. |

Hi guys! For the record.... during the run of the show, Richard Anderson stated that Oscar was in love with Jaime. At bionicon1, when asked if it was a friendship or romantic love, Richard confirmed that it was romantic:) Second, in the blooper reel, Richard states that he was in love with Jaime and the scripts should reflect that:) Last, in the Bionic Book by Herbie J. Plato, Arthur Rowe confirms our feelings. When I first read it last winter, I posted it under Bionics in the Media. there may be a Bionic Book thread there:) But just for fun, here is is again:) I including the direct quote! As to Oscar's fluctuating relationships with Steve and Jaime, Rowe agrees with certain fan factions. "He was difinitely more of a buddy for Steve and a romantic figure for Jaime, " he says. "I never at all had any feelings that Oscr viewed Jaime as a daughter. I think he felt repsonsible for her, in many ways. But he was in love with her. I mean, Jaime wasn't someone you could put in pigtails. Go Arthur and praise whoever decided to quote him:) Lori |

Can't forget the safe scene either. If she was going to 'go up in a bang', he was definitely going with her! There was nothing he could do to help get her out but he stayed there anyway. |
