Maybe she wasn't allowed to change Kenny's basic outline for the show. Kenny did seem to have a firm block against Jaime/Oscar, since when I wrote to him about that, it was a subject he refused to comment on. (And he answered other questions I've asked of him in the past willingly and completely.) |

Yeah, he really did refuse to talk about it didn't he? Kind of odd...if he was dead against it, why not say so? Did some inconsolable Oscar and Jaime fan try to pull out the last of his remaining hair when he said he was against a romance between them, leaving him with a lasting fear of the topic? I've never heard Lindsay's take on it, so I have no idea what she thought about the whole thing. It's clear she thought they were really close and she was certainly flirtatious with Oscar sometimes, but as to whether she thought there was a romance between them...I have no idea. Nice to hear from you SW&D! |

Kenny didn't seem to want to commit himself to any romance. In his first reponse didn't he say something about not being certain even about Steve and Jaime ever getting back together? Maybe he didn't see the need for Jaime to be in a relationship for the series to work. It was only after he left that Chris was introduced and how terrible that was. |

I think Kenny envisioned Jaime as an independent woman, not needing a man to 'complete' her. |

So true...funny how we're all in an eternal tussle about which man belongs with her! |

You mean we all agree she should live happily ever after with Chris Williams?! |

Bite your tongue! Chris Williams indeed! I agree with Lola - I think they just weren't willing to commit her to a real relationship throughout the series. I mean, Steve could have EASILY been brought back in, but they gave him other dates and such, and I think Lindsay and Lee just didn't see eye to eye anyway. I think she and Oscar DID flirt a lot and such, but maybe they thought a romance between them would change the direction of the show - Oscar would probably be more reticent to send her out on missions if they were a couple. I wish they HAD put them together. Ahhh to see MORE!!! |

Having Jaime go off to face her future - alone and unafraid - would've been better than putting her with Chris!!! |

Absolutely! Though I think Oscarfan got it right when she showed us what happened AFTER she and Chris left in On the Run. But yes, anything is better than Chris.

Yes, I agree. I think Ken and Lindsay (when she was involved) wanted to portray Jaime as a independent and strong woman in character as well as the physical abilities. Romance was not a top priority compared to stories that gave a message about becoming a better person, accepting people for who they are, making a difference, helping others, etc. |

Isn't that wonderful? And progressive - especially for 1976. It's too bad we all keep pairing her off...but it's IRRESISTABLE! |

Yes, but we're pairing her off with a man who realizes what a treasure she is, who isn't going to stifle her independence, and respects her completely. He doesn't want to be with her because she needs him to be complete, he wants to be with her because he loves her. I think there's a difference there. He's not patronizing, overly protective, overly meddlesome, condescending or cocky. That's just another reason I think they're perfect together. |

I have to agree with that! That's why they seem so perfect together. I think Oscar was about the only one who really knew and understood her.

Exactly. He respected her for who she WAS. He didn't want to control her or suffocate her - he just wanted to BE with her. You can just tell by the look on his face when he sees her. |
