One flaw in Oscar, and believe me when I say that I do like him, he expects far too much of both Steve and Jaime. After all, they're "only human" and I think sometimes both he, and even Rudy for that matter, sometimes forget that. naer
Well, I'm not sure regarding Steve, but at least with Jaime, Oscar did act pretty concerned at times about sending her into harms way.

One thing that I noticed Oscar did more in Six Million Dollar Man than Bionic Woman was getting angry and yelling. Granted, he didn't do it a lot. And even though it may be a flaw, it's something I actually rather like about him, it makes him human. And, this may sound silly, but I like seeing him get passionate about something once in a while instead of being the calm, cool, and collected boss all of the time.

He definitely had a different persona from one show to the other. Not that either one was bad or wrong; just noticeably different. It's a tribute to RA's ability that he could portray these subtle nuances in the character.

I've kind of seen his persona on Bionic Woman in a different light after I read an interview with him talking about his daughters. IIRC, he said his daughters told him that he couldn't be a disciplinarian with them as they became teenagers, that he couldn't shout at them and expect certain things from them with that attitude, that he had to listen to what they were telling him. So that, along with him saying in "On the Run" that Jaime was the closest thing that that he had to a daughter made me wonder if that not yelling or shouting in anger at or around Jaime is really a bit of RA we are seeing in that aspect of Oscar. If that's true, I don't know, it just gives me the warm fuzzies think about it. It's said that the best acting is when the audience doesn't think the actor is acting and think that's kind of true with Oscar's demeanor around Jaime.

And yes, I agree, nothing wrong with either demeanor on either show. I just like seeing his normally mild mannered temper go by the wayside once in a while. I may have just read too many romance novels in my life, LOL, because when I see a normally "cool customer" type character get excited about something once in a while, it makes me wonder what other things he might get excited about. 7654h

Yes, I've always felt RA probably injected the feelings he had for LW in real life into Oscar's approach to Jaime.

I thought I saw some story where RA talked about his daughters being big fans of TBW...and so he would often have LW over his house to eat dinner with them all, and they would joke about her being his "fourth" daughter.

That's just plain cute. gw54z

Here are the flaws listed on the Angelfire site's character page (for Oscar):
Weaknesses

* Impertinent
* Workaholic
* Opinionated
* Suspicious

And even though it's Oscar's thread, from the same site, the flaws for Steve:
Weaknesses

* Opinionated
* Close-minded to paranormal phenomenons
* Cantankerous (in pilots but mellowed out as series began)

(Since it's a SMDM/Big Valley site only, there is no character profile for Jaime.)
-

Even though the site quoted here is long gone, I still think this might be a great conversation starter. What do YOU think about these lists?

Bump!

For Oscar, I can easily accept Workaholic and Opinionated. At times, he can be Suspicious; he HAS to be! But Impertinent? Oscar? I don't see it. Do you?

Oscar is not impertinent, but not very empathic sometimes.
