What do you think? Is it a character flaw?

Oscar never calls his secretary Ms Callahan or even Peggy. He always says "Callahan, do this, do that..." As for me, it sounds a bit rude.

In America - also in business - people often call each other by their first name, don't they?

You have a very good point! Peggy or Miss Callahan would sound much more appropriate. Calling her simply 'Callahan' appears somewhat rude. I never saw the SMDM episode that Callahan first appeared in, though. Did she ask to be called Callahan? That would seem to me to be the only good reason.

I don't think it's a character flaw of Oscar's, alone, though, since Steve and Jaime both also call her Callahan.

You know for years I had forgot and thought that her first name was Callahan. It probably wasn't until I started coming to bionic boards on the net that I remembered Peggy was actually her first name. But like you said, b4e, everybody called her Callahan, not just Oscar.

How did Oscar refer to his secretaries before Callahan came along? Does anyone remember?

On TBW, did they ever even show a secretary before Callahan? I don't remember one?

No, but Oscar must have had one before Callahan's first appearance on SMDM.

Is "stubborn" a trait you would use to describe Oscar - if so, why?

I think I would use 'firm' as opposed to stubborn. He knew exactly what it would entail to get a mission completely successfully and he did his job well. In spite of Jaime's reluctance to accept some of her undercover identities (i.e. Bionic Beauty, In This Corner...), she ended up taking the assignments and completing them successfully due to large part to Oscar's firm insistence and careful planning.

Yeah, that fits for me. He always seems ready to change directions if it seems like the right thing to do, and to listen to other people's ideas - which is certainly not stubborn.

He was flexible enough to listen to others' opinions, but firm enough to demand his due respect. I like that! JCUL

Betty and someone else are mentioned in the first season of BW.

I am nearly through with watching all the episodes of the BW and SMDM show and I notice that Oscar seems to change his secretaries as often as he changes his shirts.

Or is it the secretaries who quit the job voluntarily?
Sometimes he appears to be a bit cold and speaks with an angry tone to his assistants. Do this. do that... He is only nice to Jamie but often stiff when he is around his secretaries. As if he did not appreciate their work. I don't like that. :(

How do you see this?

I believe the secretaries were changed so often for security purposes, so no one would 'know too much'. He got a little nicer to Callahan after Jaime mentioned it to him in Kill Oscar, but yes, he could be very gruff and businesslike.

I like in Kill Oscar when Jamie talks to him about appreciating people (meaning Callahan), he says to her something like "babe, I appreciate you" but with suh an interesting tone......
