Of course, I expected to get a response to calling Oscar dull Lola. I just didn't see why Steve was brought in to it. You say you have genuine feelings that you don't express here, but you don't seem to have a problem expressing critizicim for Steve. So why attack me for being critical of Oscar (which I don't really think I am anyway) when your critical of Steve.

"How do you know he is dull if you never paid him much attention."

Well, actually I said that I never gave him much thought. Maybe if I hadn't found him so dull, I would have given him more thought.

"Oscar appeared in every episode except for one or two."

Not that it's any big deal, but there were more like 6 episodes that Oscar wasn't in. There was also a couple that he was in, but he and Jaime didn't have any contact. While Oscar was in most episodes, most of his appearances were brief. So in my opinion, he did only make up a small part of the bionic universe. He certainly wasn't the reason why I watched. I became a fan of Lindsay's after seeing her on TSMDM and have followed her career ever since. I watched TBW for her as I'm sure most people did.

As I said before, it was not my intention to criticize Steve in response to your comment about Oscar. I was using it as a comparison. I know you wouldn't find Steve dull just as I wouldn't of Oscar. I explained why I find Steve dull and then went on to explain why I could never see Oscar that way. Why don't you tell me why you don't see Steve as dull in reply? That would be more balanced and productive than some debate about who's trying to upset each other. When I first joined this forum I added a post about Steve's positive points. Every character has good and bad traits. Can you see any positive ones in Oscar? If so, why not tell us?

As far as Oscar not being in up to 6 episodes--are you including SMDM? I can only think of three. Even if he wasn't in a few, there is no denying he is still a main part of BW. Oscar was an essential character in both series without him there is no OSI, missions, bionic program, etc. I don't think Oscar was the reason any of us started watching BW but as I got to know his character I became very interested and really liked him. He is the reason I started watching SMDM though. I think he is fascinating and has great parts in both series. You were obviously watching and finding other characters more interesting. That's fine. You have stated who you found dull and I've stated who I found dull. Two people, completely different reactions. That's the wonderful thing about fiction.

While I liked LW, she was not the reason I started watching BW either. It was the character of Jaime, the good feeling the show produced with every episode and her developing relationship with Oscar that attracted me.

When I was young, I watched BW because I liked Jaime's character. I did like Oscar's character there, and certainly wouldn't have seen it as minor, though I didn't really want to see a romantic relationship between them at that time (I was in elementary school, so I don't even think I knew what that was anyway).

However, when I rewatched them again as an adult, my favorite parts were the scenes where Jaime is with Oscar. Not just because he is in them, but because I like watching them together. I enjoy the subtlety between them, like something is simmering beneath the surface, but both are too timid to make the first step. I like that, because they aren't timid about anything else.

I think Oscar's character is interesting because of the mystery about him, and he is such a strong character - does he REALLY seem to have any flaws? I wouldn't say he is dull at all - that's not an attack, just my opinion. I think he is mysterious - we just don't KNOW what all he likes and does etc... It's easy to create a macho leading character like Steve - movies and TV shows are filled with that type. It's MUCH harder to develop one like Oscar. He has second billing and an action figure - I don't consider that to be a minor role.

To be fair to Steve, he is attractive, honest, trustworthy and intelligent, just not my pick.

Okay...back to topic, huh... perhaps his biggest character flaw of all - the guy doesn't know how to wear a baseball cap. Every time I see him in a cap I cringe.

Very true! It just doesn't suit him at all.

Did Oscar ever wear jeans or sweats on the series and just relax?

I doubt he EVER wore sweats- the man never exercised. I think he even wore pants (as opposed to jeans) when he and Steve were on vacation in that episode with Farrah. I'm not sure he EVER wore jeans - though Richard looks nice in them in various western shows 85htrs 85htrs

:D Even his 'first vacation in three years' looks like hard work! At the beginning of 'Love Song for Tanya' he says he's a tennis player so we must assume he gets out of a suit occasionally and relaxes!

Yes, it would have been very interesting to see them play a game together.

Oscar, I think has trouble seeing the the sunlight, because in his experience there are always clouds and they tend to take over. That's why he needs Rudy and Jaime and Steve to show him that tiny speck of blue in the middle of the storm.

I agree and reading these lines I think of the episode where Rudi is on the island with Jamie. At the end Oscar comes to pick them up. As for me, it is clearly visible that Jamie is his sunshine. He seems so relaxed and happy to be with her. Too bad that they have to leave the island way too quickly.

They should have stayed together one more week. Only the two of them... DI6DTE yc97p8f urzjtu 3weazh fr32
