Just couldn't make it work. Wrote myself into too many corners and finally stepped back and said YUCK.

In the episode 2 that never saw the light of day (called Facing the Abyss), Jaime found out that Steve hadn't been told about her being revived from death - and demanded to know whose decision that was.  She informed Oscar that she would never, EVER trust him again.  It just came out too bitter....

I agree with your decision on that. It does seem too bitter. I can see perhaps Jaime questioning the reasons for not telling Steve but I can't imagine her ever saying that she wouldn't trust Oscar again.

Yeah, Oscar gave them both their lives. They would have to be serious ingrates not to realize that.

Well, yes, in the first show, but then Oscar gets the credit after that, (it is stated that it was HIS program) and as Oliver Spencer then disappears and is never mentioned again, you've got to lean toward Oscar.

I nitpick your nitpick!

Okay....Oscar IS in the opening (which totally re-writes the pilot, btw). And Oscar did let Steve continue his normal life, as opposed to Spencer wanting him 'tuned down' between missions.

What, exactly, is 'tuned down' anyway...?

It's like turning down the volume. He'd be a midget afterward.

I need to read more CAREFULLY. Yeah, it still would have been way too harsh if Jaime had been that angry. What Oscar did is not a betrayal. It just was a bit dopey.

It's the only action of Oscar's that I still have trouble reconciling in my mind, though.

Really? Doesn't it kind of fit into his history of sort of dopey decisions for you? He thought he was being kind.

Maybe, but to stand by Steve's bed after he'd been injured (and SAW Jaime) and still keep up the deception seemed almost...cruel.

But they must have known her memory wasn't there, and Oscar probably thought that for Steve to see her in that state, when he was vulnerable himself, would be totally devastating. Cruel to be kind, maybe - but the impulse is STILL to save Steve's feelings.

Mostly this issue belongs in the sucking vortex that is the bionic black hole, thus it's not worth burning any brain cells - it doesn't quite make sense.

NO, none of it makes sense... Least of all the fact they never showed a funeral...
