KFC is very sociable, I would like Darling to be like him !! he is so scared when people come home, he hides below the beds or the blankets. The other day, a nurse came here for shots, she went away, Darling came out from his hiding place but she came back because she forgot something, Darling went crazy of fear, he nearly knocked the door with his head wanting to run away as fast as possible !! he was not that way at the SPCA.

He is still a kitten (only three months next friday) and he may change when he will be a grown up even if I'll have him sterilized and he will never be a complete male cat.
His sweet character worry me a little because when he will go outside anybody could take him.

I think getting a male cat fixed is the right thing to do in part because it keeps him from getting crazy aggressive, which I suspect could happen even to this little guy.

Our first male cat was very, very personable. We would tease him when he would come in from outside by asking if he was out greeting his public. Most times, he had everyone in our apartment complex pretty much wrapped around his paw. There were some neighbors that lived behind us at one point that he avoided like the plague, however. They were only there for about six months, but Guy was quite intimidated by large men (which the neighbors had been) for a good eighteen months afterward.

I also had a co-worker (who ended up being the not so trustworthy sort, but that's another story) drive me home once because I forgot my work keys. Guy had a tendency to go up and greet just about anyone and everyone. While she was waiting for me, she tried to call him over. He didn't budge and almost went out of his way to ignore her. As I was walking back to the car, she tried again and he still refused. I tried calling him over and he finally looked over and let out the biggest hiss as if to say, "There is no way you are going to make me come over there and greet that woman." She laughed it off, but she was the only person I've ever seen him act with animosity toward them. Looking back, though, I have a feeling he sensed that she was untrustworthy.

So, my point is even though KFC is a sweet little guy, he might be able to sense someone is up to no good and avoid them. I understand your worry though. I'd probably do the same thing.

Bionika, another reason that you really want to get KFC neutered is that full male cats will mark their territory - indoors as well as outside - by spraying. It's a more concentrated strength of urine and it's next-to-impossible to remove the scent from upholstery, carpets, etc.

Elzorro... your kitten might very well become more sociable with visitors as he grows and gets used to your home. Some cats never do take well to people they don't know, but as long as they don't become aggressive, it's ok. Just don't force him by bringing him out to meet people because that could worsen the fear. Just be patient and let the cat lead the way.

That's true, he still has time to change !! maybe in growing up, he'll be more circumspect.
I hope his character will toughen up with time and he won't trust anybody !!

I hope so. Yes I think that cats have a kind of "sixth sense" and they know if they can trust people or not. However last week , all the persons he sit with for aperitive were cat lovers and he probabbly felt it.

However this cat is really surprising me.

Last week he would like to go out. Of course it's "NO WAY" on the street but this week-end I has to do some work in my garden and it wouldn't have been easy to keep doors closed or to watch the cat so I bought a harness and a leash.
On saturday evening , I watch on internet how to put it (there has been no notice or picture with the harness) and of course he was with me near the screen. So I said "eh, lets try it" and even I should try three time before succeed to put it correctly, he let me do!!!! I'm completely astonished when I remember how long Syrah had needed to be used to collar (she never accepted harness).

Sunday was quite hot and I decided to eat outside. I put the leash on a chair foot. I should say that KFC was quite unhappy to be stop by the leash...and by rolling he succeeded to remove the harness ... but stayed quietly near me, not trying to climb on trees in order to reach neibourg's gardens.
In the afternoon, I did some branch and grass cutting . He appreciated more because I put a cord at end of leash and roll it in my hand so he could have more space for moving. He tried to climb in the trees but he didn't succeed to go more than circa a meter high! It was very funny to watch him exploring the garden.
I haven't been very effective on my work but he had avery good time outside and was very exhausted after!

That's great news with KFC and the collar and leash! Maybe if he gets use to going around with them, you might be able to take him out on walks. I always wanted to be able to do that with one of my cats, but no such luck.

He certainly sounds like he is regarding you as "Maman". I'm kind of wondering if he might not get a bit more curious about the trees once he's more familiar with the garden, just because there's the phrase "curious kitten". It's hard to do yard work when kitty is out "on safari" and looking so adorable doing it.

I trained Syrah with collar and leash when she was 8 month old. She finally accepted it and I should say that I had lot of success when I went with her on motorway's rest areas!
But don't be mistaken , I never could take her out on walks : she didn't go where I want or walk by me; she went where SHE wanted and the leash was ony there to stop her and prevent her to go in bushes or ran away.

Here is she :

That reminds me a bit of a conversation I had with my Dad. I told him that cats better prepare one for having kids. He asked me how I came to that. I said, "You once told me that cats have staff. So do kids." (Dogs have masters, cats have staff.)

Now I have a little one that always wants to do what she wants to do and having to reign her in, teach her stuff for a long, long time in the hopes that she picks it up (and be reconciled that it might never happen), etc. Much like having a cat, not wanting to listen to you, doing their own thing, hanging around you when they want to hang around you. I think if I had dogs instead growing up and before I had her, I'd be so lost right now. ````

All of you who have or had cat won't belive me if I tell you that KFC is a quiet and nice kitten who always behave himself...And you would be completely right!!!
Even so, he seems so kind when he was one month old:

That look in KFC's eyes seems to say, "Ah, a new place to rub my scent all over and yet look completely adorable for the camera..."

And what is he really up to!

He is a climber. His first try was to climb on the kitchen worktop (which isn't allowed first for hygiene and second because it's a dangerous place for cats ). He was* too little and missed it. In order not to fall, he tried to hang on by one's fingernail; unfortunately his fingernail found only the butter dish (made in glass and with butter in otherwise it wouldn't have been funny.... ;) :D ).

* I said he "was" because even if he is still to little to jump on it with one lap, he is also clever and had understood that if he climb first on the stool he could then reach the worktop...

One thing you might try is covering the worktop with aluminum foil. Cats cannot stand the feel of it under their feet - and just one or 2 jumps ought to cure him!
