I would really love to know what Bubba has been so frantically trying to tell me - since 4am this morning! The house is not on fire, his food dish is full....

:YEAHTHAT: - rotflol!

Actually, he was probably bored. Now that I am up (bah-humbug), he has gone to sleep. I am tempted to go over and howl in HIS ear...but I will behave.

I was awake all Sunday night with a sick goose in distress then when he got quiet at 4am I worried because he was too quiet!

I can see why you'd be so upset! Did you go in at 4 am and check on him? Do you think he has learned his lesson about eating slugs?

I did check on him but then I woke him up and he started coughing! I really doubt he has learned his lesson about eating slugs. If only he could associate slugs with how awful he felt, the nasty trip to the vet, the injection and horrible medicine all week he'd never look at another let alone eat it I'm sure! I'm just glad he's OK and we are both sleeping through the night now.

It's like having a little baby all over again isn't it? Tempting? Not for me :)

Well, my FOOLISH dog insists on snapping at wasps! Then they sting him inside the mouth, and it's a national tragedy for several hours, and then he goes outside and does it again! Honestly.

I'm glad he's okay, Lola. :)

Thanks! It was a real worry especially as animals always seem to get ill on weekends. It's great that I've finally found a vet that knows about birds. They seem to be a personal interest to him and that is a very rare thing for vets.

What a silly dog you have, Messyhead! Doesn't he remember what happens when he does that? I'd think such a painful lesson would be learned very quickly. How awful for him! At least with my goose the cause and effect of eating a slug can take a few days so I doubt he will ever make that connection. Sadly that means we could have this all over again.

No thanks! I don't think I'd manage more than a couple of nights.

Exactly - your goose has no sense of cause and effect. You would think a dog would be smart enough not to keep DOING that. My doberman got stung and her whole face swelled up like a balloon - he's lucky he's not allergic.

Does he howl pitifully or take it like a man?

He doesn't howl but he certainly doesn't take it like a man! He slinks and quivers and looks at you as though he's expecting the executioner to take him away any minute. It's pitiful. (But oddly cute.)

WHY do they always get sick on weekends?!!

Glad to hear he's okay, Lola!

That must be pitiful to see! Do you think he gets so much fun from it he just can't stop himself? Our silly goose will disturb an ants' nest and get a dozen or more bites but seems to have so much fun doing it he doesn't care!
