He could have completed the degrees while in the Navy so that makes sense. But since he was already in Naval Intelligence, the next logical step after leaving the Navy would be the OSI. I don't see why he would want to make such a change and become a public prosecuter.

In 'Lost Love' Steve says that his career ruined his relationship with Barbara stating how much time training as an astronaut takes. Oscar replies that he knows very well the time involved as if he's had personal experience. Not saying Oscar was training but it seems to say he was working for NASA directly at some point.

He has been busy!

I don't know WHY they felt the need to add the bit about being the prosecuter in the first place. Steve only brought it up because they were looking for an informant, and mentioned that Oscar must know someone....He could have known them from OSI work, and then the whole naval career and then OSI would be much more logical...

Then again, there are many continuity issues, aren't there?

I just found this in the book of 'Welcome Home, Jaime'. After the tennis court scene they walk back to the hospital together.

Jaime: 'You trained Steve to be an astronaut, didn't you, Oscar?'

Oscar: 'Well, we've all come a long way since then.'

So he was supposed to have worked with NASA.

Like you say, there are many continuity issues.

Yet I thought it was stated or implied that he didn't meet Steve until AFTER the accident. I wish they haad been more careful, and more explicit about certain things. Then again, why worry about whether Oscar's career timeline makes sense when you're dealing with Bigfoot, or aliens out to capture Helen Hunt?

Very true! Shouldn't get caught up with trying to make sense of all of it, because it just won't.

Yup, there's no satisfaction in it, that's for sure! It's annoying trying to make sense of it all, in fact.

Besides a middle name, what would be a good nick name - like buddies from the Navy might have? What about Jaime's pet name for him? When she is being Lisa Galloway, 'Sugar-Pie" just makes my skin crawl... I can't see Oscar being a 'Sugar-Pie".... ````

I puzzle over that too. Like I think you mentioned, he was called "Goldy" by that one guy, but that doesn't quite work for me.

I didn't like 'Goldy' either... I think it would be funny to have a really interesting nick name that Jaime has to figure out or ruminate over. I don't know - something even as simple as 'Hands'...that could mean SOOO many things with completely different connotations. I could see something like that driving her CRAZY....

That's a funny idea... I must say, the connotations are a little creepy!

But what if she found out he was the wide receiver on the football team? Or maybe saved someone's life somehow when they fell out a window or something.... Jaime might feel bad about misjudging him, and it could be funny for her to find out.

Any new thoughts on a middle name - or a nickname - for Oscar?
