You both might just inspire me to try another 'M' story one day....but they are not my strong suit....

Pish tosh! Your's may not have been quite so ...er... detailed, but the ones I've read were good n' steamy.

I try to tone them so they won't get me tossed off of fanfic...and end up with not enough steam, sometimes.

There's WAY steamier stuff on fanfic.

I haven't read many other stories on fanfiction except for Bionic Woman. I did read ONE other story that was quite explicit in it's terminology, otherwise, I really haven't run across much that is overly steamy. Maybe I just haven't come across those stories yet, as I hear that fanfiction is chock full of them. Unless it's a story I'm interested in (mainly Bionic Woman) I'm unlikely to browse. I heard they take stuff OFF fanfiction though if it's too racy, yet there seems to be no standard for "too racy".

I made a project of checking them out to see just how graphic they got, and they got pretty graphic. There were some in 'Gunsmoke' that were quite racy. Not good, just racy.

I don't know what the cut off point is...explicit terms? The thing that's difficult to gauge is that one person's offensive is another person's tame.

I think fanfics 'M' is slightly above an R-rated movie and just below an 'X'. The only way they pull a story that I know of is if someone complains. But you never know whose eyes are on your stories there, so I am a little over-careful.

I don't think I'd like the Gunsmoke stories then - I don't want to read something racy just because it's got some sex scenes in it. No thanks. I wouldn't mind if it was racy but sensual - tastefully done - and had characters I cared about. Then I'd LOVE it. But like you said, I guess that can still be over the line for some people. I don't think our LBL's have cross that "X" line - more just an "R" in my book - I mean, there are some RACY "R" 's out there :)

Fanfic used to have an 'X' rating, but pulled it due to complaints.

I'd give the current lbl a definite 'M' - for mah-velous!

Well they were trying to be sensual, but the writing was clumsy. Heartfelt, but clumsy.

Well, maybe that would be better then. It's the clumsy part that I find hard to work with. I never try to be racy just to be racy - but it's harder to make it sensual, but SO worth the effort when it comes out right... 85htrs 85htrs I LOVE reading a good piece!

The other problem with writing steamy stuff is that it can be unintentionally hilarious. Just one poorly chosen euphemism and you've got comedy.

I would like to commend all of you on the wonderful LBL's and other fanfiction stories on this site. I'm partial to the S & J LBL's and fanfic. You all have this knack of bringing to life, in the mind's eye, these stories. It's almost like watching it on tv. So to all of you keep the stories coming. yide c8654

Thank you, Soxs - and please feel free to drop a line or two into the lbl when the spirit moves you! Everyone is always welcome to add the next sentence (or two or three...).

I struggle figuring out how to START a LBL. Sometimes I have a basic idea, but it's hard to flesh out, and sometimes you feel someone else wants it to go in a certain direction and I hate to disappoint.
