Not specifically in the bionic shows, as I've not written many bionic stories...but in fanfics in general, I LOVE character "whump" and injury to the main characters...I especially love whuming or killing off the main, male lead...in this case, being Steve...on the fanfic site, I wrote a story that had Steve being shot, and then at the end he "slipped into darkness" leaving unknown if he died, or just fell unconsciouss..I actually don't know myself if he died! I would, if it fit with the story, kill off Oscar (lol..."Kill Oscar"... get it? but I'd definitely agree....something about Rudy...I guess being the stereotypical "meek scientist" who is not directly involved with the violence, or supposed to get hurt...his character is likeable, yet his death would just seem wrong or off...besides, then, who would be able to help Steve and/or Jamie!? I also don't like whumping/killing off the girls....though I don't suppose whumping Jamie would really bother me.... I'm more familiar, in writing for other shows... like in "Psych" (the only modern show i watch) I often shoot, stab, and/or kill the main character, 'psychic' detective Shawn Spencer...but I hate hurting his girlfriend, policewoman, Juliet "jules" O'Hara..and as in the "Rudy-like" character, I hate seeing harm come to Shawn's buddy, Gus, who's sort of his side kick, but has no real place as far as the action is concerned... Also, in terms of character death controversy, I've gotten much hate over a Big Valley story I wrote, in which Heath got killed! I rewrote a scene from a real episode, in which he was shot in the arm, and the doctor tells his brother, Nick, that if Heath had moved a few inches, he'd have died...yeah...I couldn't let that go by...so I moved Heath a few inches! And he died....within hours of posting the story, I'd gotten 20+ reviews that blatantly stated various versions of "I HATE THIS STORY!! YOU CAN'T KILL HEATH!" And stuff like that...I have no problem in killing certain characters...and in most cases, though I often cry at these, I enjoy them! |

Sitting in front of the TV, watching an old rerun of The Big Valley, eating a Heath bar, while wearing a pair of sturdy Lee Jeans, a NASA baseball cap, and a "Colt's" hoodie; all while a paperback copy of "Cyborg" lays nearby...ah...the perfect image of a true fangirl of the great Lee Majors.... | |

I think that's exactly my point of view. You can always kill off a character and then resurrect them in the end, like what the powers that be have done with Jaime. It's also been done so many times on Days of Our Lives to Stephano Dimera that his nickname has become the Phoenix. So I don't have any problem with killing off any character because you can always bring them back in the end in a creative way. Bionic Kathy |
