Doubtless writing gave her life meaning and order - a great way to shoo out the demons. (And thank you!) |

Very true! Probably some of the few times she felt in control. (You're welcome! That's also very true!) |

Isn't it amazing how great writing - like that bit of Virginia Woolf - airs out your head, gives you new perspective, makes you feel there are limitless possibilities? What an amazing feat for a little string of symbols written on page or screen. Makes me want to read "Mrs Dalloway". I haven't touched Woolf since my twenties when I took a crack at "To The Lighthouse" and lost courage early. |

I had the same reaction with 'To the Lighthouse'. I really disliked Mr. Ramsay. So much that I stopped reading. I tried again and it is worth the effort. It's an amazing story about the passing of time, personal journeys and the fragility of life. I loved all the symbolism too. You should try it again. 'Mrs. Dalloway' is just as good and much easier to read though. |

No, no no! That sentence was obviously structured badly. I meant after careful consideration and having read everything on this site, I was constructing a long run-on sentence because I was extremely bored! Never EVER bored reading your stuff! |

Kiddin' sport. But I wouldn't be all that surprised or horrified if you WERE bored on occasion. It's so hard to know how your stuff plays out to the reader, isn't it?

Your writing never leaves me bored, Messy - boredom is being awake at 1:30am or 3am and knowing (or feeling like) the entire rest of the world is asleep and I am the only one awake, which of course necessitates extra coffee in the morning just to be a conscious individual...or else a mid-morning nap which can then turn the search for night-time sleep into a vicious cycle where there is none to be had because you slept too long during the day and are no longer tired, so the question would be do you sleep when you happen to be tired or only allow yourself to sleep at night and hope your body clock eventually re-sets itself which mine never does no matter how many days I try not to take naps - I will just find myself too overtired to sleep at all and that's a fine kettle of fish (which is a really odd expression for someone who doesn't care much for fish) and I suppose the main thing I wonder at one in the morning is why I can't write in the daytime the way I can in the middle of the night although perhaps it could be the adrenaline caused by the frustration of not being able to sleep - which I can't seem to do because I've had to much coffee in the daytime to stay awake or a nap when I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore - I suppose that's the definite of a vicious circle...sort of like this long rambling sentence that I'd imagine you stopped reading half a page ago but I just can't stop typing because it's like eating potato chips and I love potato chips - especially at one in the morning when I am bored and unable to sleep. |

Okay, I think you need help with your math If you've authored 12 stories and only 9 of them have Oscar and Jaime together, you've only got a 75% rating. CLEARLY you need to strive for the high 90's You must be counting two of them as O/J stories, because their sequels are Oscar/Jaime. Cheater! |

I have horrible trouble with run on sentences - again because when we speak we don't speak in short, choppy sentences - nor do we speak in paragraphical format. I try to avoid "he said/she said" or similar phrases when I can, but sometimes it's not the action your' describing, but emotion. If Jaime comes in and Oscar says "hello babe" - he could have said it brusquely - implying he's rushed, happily, implying he's delighted to see her, sarcastically, or tenderly. Without writing hello babe, he said in a sultry voice, how do you know which it is? I suppose you could describe before or after that he looked at her lustfully to imply it. Otherwise, I'm lost. |

What I like about reading writing like that is it inspires me for my own. Not like I could ever compare, but it makes me realize there is so much more I could do. I really admire those people who have such a beautiful connection between their brains and the pen. |

Yes, I worked it out at 75% too because of the first part of the ones with sequels. Definitely not fair to claim it's an O/J together story when you leave us hanging for months before we get the sequel!

All right all right! I cheated! I didn't see it that way when I was adding it up, but have it your way. Let's just say the "VAST majority" (if a twelve story catalogue could be called vast) have Oscar and Jaime put together and /or kept together. |

Nice of you to see it our way. Does this dreadful imbalance mean you'll be spinning a new tale for us anytime soon? By the way, it's not quantity, it's quality. Though you have only 12 (LBL's don't count, though many have been fabulous), many are really masterpieces. I'd take a dozen messyhead pieces over hundreds of other O/J stories simply because they're beautifully written and make a lasting impression. They have staying power - and they transcend simple BW fanfiction. And for the record, I still loved the three that weren't happy endings - and THAT says something about the story. They were gut wrenching, but great. |

Seems to me SOME people around here are just as guilty of leaving us hanging in unhappy scenarios...stories that are STILL not finished...not naming any names or anything...
