We had an lbl that followed those lines. What I especially liked is that when Steve and Jaime did part, there was no anger or recrimination...only sadness.

Yeah, I don't remember that - only the one where Steve raised Oscar's baby. Was that the one?

The one where Jaime didn't know whose baby she was carrying (after a night of passion with Oscar). Rudy lied and told S & J the baby was Steve's - at Oscar's insistence - so the couple would stay together. When the boy turned 21, S & J separated and Jaime ended up with Oscar. (She'd known from the minute she saw the baby who the father was.)

Just went and looked. It's called Jaime's Dilemma and is in the finished lbl thread.

Yeah, she was sad their whole marriage I think because she didn't raise the baby with it's father - though Steve did a good job with the kid. That's a rough way to spend 21 years. At least she found happiness in the end.

Yes, that is a long time. In my scenario they worked out the marriage wasn't going to work much faster than that.

Yeah, I thought that was heartbreaking. She was so...lifeless. I'd rather see her figure it out more quickly. PLus I think Oscar would have been a GREAT dad.

While it was sad that Jaime had been unhappy for that long (and presumably, Steve had been, too), I did like that there was no huge blow-up...just a slow realization.

Yeah, I liked that part too. After all those years of indifference, I can't see a huge blow up.

A huge blow-up could be fun to write. At least, that was what I thought until I tried to write one once.

I think we tried that in the LBL and no one wanted it to take. It seems like a fun idea until you actually do it. Then you have to have then voice the other's REAL flaws - that's hard to face.

Mine just never sounded real. Tried at least 3 or 4 versions...and scrapped them all.

I tried a story where Oscar and Jaime had a real spat, but it was too hard to make it real enough - I don't think I liked the sound of what they would have to say to each other. I think it COULD have been real, but then they would each have had some serious character flaws. I've scrapped it for now, but it's still in the back burner - along with too many others that I'll never finish. It's not like I got THAT far on it at least.

And just what IS canon, in regards to Jaime and Steve? In Bionic Beauty, Jaime wonders (to Oscar) if Steve ever asks about her. Oscar tells her Steve asks about her all the time: "How you are, what you're doing, if you're seeing anyone."

Jaime asks if Steve is seeing someone and Oscar tells her "Nothing serious - you know how he feels about you."

So-o-o....where does this leave what had been established as canon?
