I think Rudy could, under the right circumstances. And Steve, definitely.

Steve and Oscar definitely would shoot someone to save themselves or someone else. I think Rudy would too. Sure, he's against it and would do everything he could to avoid it - but let's face it - in their line of work it's not unreasonable to think the situation COULD arise where it's you or the bad guy - period. I could see why it would be too hard to make Jaime HAVE to make that choice - and it could change the show - I just think it's interesting to think about. We KNOW Jaime is anti-violence - I just wondered how far her stand would apply.

I think she'd be more likely to shoot to save someone else than she would herself.

I wonder if Rudy would have had gun training, as an OSI scientist...? (My muse is always shaping and re-shaping ideas.)

I would think he would have had gun training. Scientists in other government agencies receive it - why not the OSI? Regardless, I still think he'd shoot someone to save himself - and definitely to save someone else.

Here's another question. Do you think Rudy would actually carry a gun?

I remember Oscar firing a gun a few times in both shows but I don't remember seeing his shots hitting anyone.

Oscar was shown firing shots without warning at two villains in "Which one is Jaime?" even if they weren't directly threatening him or Jaime, just in order to stop them .
But as you said, his shots didn't hit the villains who then responded.

I could see Jaime flat-out refusing to carry a gun. (Actually, have written her that way, several times.) Rudy might, if there was a viable threat. But I'm not sure he would, under 'normal' circumstances.

Back to this question (for me) this morning. Would Rudy fire a gun to protect his friends? What about Jaime...would she? (I'm not sure if Jaime could...)

Jaime was pretty rough with some of her adversaries on occasion. I think when the chips were down and she either had to save her own life or the life of another, she just might shoot.

I don't think Steve would hesitate - he did kill a few people in SMDM, so he doesn't share Jaime's allergy to violence.

Rudy? I have a hard time imagining Rudy shooting anyone.

Interesting.
What do YOU think? (And I'm especially interested in Rudy and Jaime....)

I think that Jaime will try to use another way and avoid using a gun.
For Rudy, shooting somebody is against his Hippocratic oath .
But for both if it's a matter of kill or be killed (themselves or their friends) I think they won't hesitate to shoot. In my opinion, they aren't very good shot (because they lack of training ) so they won't be able to shoot and disarm an enemy without hurting him. I think that they would shoot at him/her in order to stop him/her and not kill him/her, so they will aim at non vital parts or their body.
