Speaking of crossing a line, what about Jaime's little school friend being picked on because of her religion....? In my mind, it helps explain Jaime's fighting spirit - but is it too much?

I don't think so - not if it's done tastefully.

Not even close. There's nothing wrong with talking about prejudice...unless you're supporting it...which you clearly were not.

Thank you. I was actually more worried about that than any bedroom scene I've ever written!

No...I think it's fine to discuss it. Hey, it was something you dealt with back then - and still today. There's no need to pretend it doesn't exist - and with Jaime you can be sure she'll support her friend.

I like this conversation. It's been on my mind all day.

Discussing racial and religious prejudice is acceptable and fanfic is a good forum to use. And like someone else said, when you are using it to teach a lesson, that it is bad and wrong and hurtful, then it is really good. I would love to read the story you are talking about, but have such trouble reading on here. But if you tell me the name I will try.

The difference between R and X can be hard to decipher. I read something once that said X is made to arouse. R is made to give a sense of something good going on. I think that's the best way to gage it. There used to be an NC-17 on fanfiction but they got rid of it because people abused it. But yeah I've read some R that was pretty racy. I usually label anything like that M just to be safe. I usually mention the body parts because seriously using all those stupid words to not say it, makes it sound hokey and takes away the romance you are trying to instill. Two people making love is just that. It should be a tender moment, not a cheap Harlequin scene.

Thanks, Melchycat - that's a great way to look at it. And the story is Legacy. Too long if you have trouble reading stories on this site. But the part with the religious angle is Section 'C'.

She'll put it up on fanfiction in about a month, Melchy. Isn't that right, B4E? (Melchy hates reading stuff on this site.)

Why does it present problems for you, Melchy?

Maybe sooner than a month, since it'll go up in three or four sections. Does the background color here hurt your eyes, Melchycat? Or is it something with the font? (Maybe something I can fix?)

I actually wrote a story awhile ago that was sort of about this subject....maybe I'll resurrect it and post it. Especially since I am without a new story right now!
