I guess now is not the time to point the finger back to YOU and ask for one, as you're in the middle of a WONDERFUL one right now :)

We do need more stories. I totally agree. The font is part of the problem. The other problem is finding the next part! I get lost so often trying to find the next part that gets hidden in all the comments. Not that comments are bad. They are very good. I like them and like to give them.

BTW since I'm here. I asked Lori about this and she said there might have been some discussion about it at one time. But is Oscar Jewish? I'm deciding really that he is, but doesn't adhere to the tenants of the religion anymore. Any thoughts?

He is Jewish, I believe. There are a couple of oblique references in the series, and the reading in the belated funeral service for his brother is from the Torah. I see him as not being particularly religious either. It doesn't suit him somehow.

I've always kind of had it in my head that he lost religion when he lost Sam.

I see him as a science oriented guy who prides himself on being a rationalist.

I think that Oscar thinks that religion doesn't make sense. That science is real and right there but religion requires faith. It's not that Oscar doesn't believe in faith, but he doesn't feel it is something to base your life on.

I'm going to make him Jewish and make a few casual remarks in my next story. I also want to do a Christmas story. It will be a companion piece to the one I'm working on now. My rationale will be that yes he is Jewish but he doesn't focus on the religion aspect and is in nation only. Therefore Hanukkah and Christmas are the same to him. (Both holidays that give him extra time at the office without being distributed.) Well at least maybe until the end of the story.

I had a theory that he might be half Jewish.

Your characterization fits with my notions exactly.

I can hardly wait to read your story!

I think he has to be Jewish based on that comment he made about changing his name from Goldman to Bartholomew in Winning is Everything. I like your story idea Melchy - I can't wait to read it.

I don't see him as religious either - not that he doesn't believe in God, just that his notions may not fit neatly into Jewish theology.
