Thank Down30, I'll use this word. By the way, during the night, I remember the French name of the device I was thinking of: it was a telex. (I don't know if it's exactly the same as a teletype). Bionika |

I've asked on Google and yes, it's the same. Teletype is a brand and telex was the name of the network connecting the teleprinters. Bionika |

I need some information about bionics and cold. I remember that Steve wsa locked in a cold room in episode "Population zero" (and I'm watching it again) and Jaime in episode "The martians are coming, the Martians are coming"...Are there other episodes in which our heroes have been locked in a cold room? I don't remember Steve being locked in a refrigerator per se, but I seem to recall him being in an astronaut's suit in a chamber and Rudy testing the suit for cold resistance and Steve making quips when Rudy asked him if everything was okay as the temperature dropped. Soon afterward the suit rips open on his forearm and he uses his bionic arm to cover the rip. I think that was from Dark Side of the Moon. This is the only scene I could think of in regards to your question. |

I'm working on a story in which stranges things will happen to our heroes. I wonder which title will be (grammatically speacking) more appropriate: "What is happening" or "What's going on"? You, who are English native speakers, what would you have say? Bionika |

Bonjour Bionika! Je m'appelle Barbara. J'habite en New York City. J'ai etudie le francais pour quatre ans au lycee et je parle le francais en peu, but not nearly as well as you speak English. Obviously I speak the american version of English and I think either phrase is appropriate. In regards to your question about cold temperatures, Steve was locked in a freezer in "Population Zero", and the same thing happened to Jaime in "The Martians are Coming X2" and their bionic limbs were failing them. I don't thing they ever established a specific temperature at which they started failing nor a time frame, but while it may have been quickly, it wasn't instantaneous or immediate, and the bionic functions seemed to return within minutes of returning to a warm environment. That may explain why Steve was still able to use his arm in the episode Inanna mentioned, the cold did not have time to affect his arm. The cold did not affect the hearing or sight since those parts were internal and protected, they didn't say it, but Steve and Jaime would likely have succumbed to hypothermia before that happened. I can't think of any other episode where either was locked in a refrigerator or freezer. |

I like "What's Going On?"... but it's really just a personal preference. The other title works as well... perhaps with a slight addition, like "What's Happening To Us?" |

Me too I wrote for the title "What is happening?" and began to write and translate. Then I found that "What's going on?" sound better to my ears. As now that thank to you I know that the two are gramatically correct, I think that I will chose "what's going on?" even if several time in the story our favorite characters will say "what's happening (to me/ to him-her / to us...)". Thank for the input. By the way, I'm going to work a little on it now Bionika Edited by Bionika, Jan 29 2015, 11:57 PM.

Bonjour Bionika, Your story idea sounds interesting. One question, will it be a J & O story, J & S or neither? Au revoir! Barbara |

Bonjour It is the next episode of "my" saison four of "The Bionic Woman" so Oscar is married to Jaime and Steve is still single, going around the world on assigments for O.S.I (so metting and possibly dating women like in the last seasons of the show). I know that you are a J/S fan and I hope it won't prevent you for reading. The story is more focused on the events which will occur to the characters and not on love between them (even if of course they will be very concerned/worried by what is happening to their lovers or friends). I'll be eagerly looking forward to it! And I'd like to encourage the Jaime/Chris and Jaime/Steve fans to check it out, as well! Bionika has a wonderful touch with action sequences and as she said, her stories are character-driven (rather than romance-driven). The relationships are there as a background to her story-telling, and not the entire focus. At the same time, I'd like to tell Bionika what I tell everyone who writes fanfiction: Write what makes you happy (or what pleases your inner muse) and the readers will follow. - - - |

Unfortunately, this story takes me longer than the other to write. The most important reason is that on the opposite of the other stories I haven't a draft for it and even if I made no break after posting the last story in July (as I usually do) because I found some ideas for this story sometimes I had been lack of ideas and had made some stop in writing till my muse will be good enough for awaking. Moreover, as I haven't a draft to follow, more than one time, the story and the characters had taken the lead ...and I had longer parts to write. And , as we discussed it in an other thread of the writers room, writing the fanfiction is quite my little secret. So, even if my daughter knows that I'm writing fanfictions about The Bionic Woman, even if she can't understand what I'm writing because she has began learning english at school only last year; when she stays with me in living room, it prevents me from writing. it's quite silly but it's like that. And unfortunately, this year , she begins classes quite late (9:00 - 10:00 - 11:00 (!)) nearly everyday, she is often with me. Last reason may be that perhaps I'm more tired this year (that's that when you become older! :D...or when you overbook your evenings!) and circa midnight my neurons sometimes refuse to line up two words in English together! However, I'm closer to the end than to the beginning and I hope to be able to post it circa beginning of April. Bionika Edited by Bionika, Feb 1 2015, 04:54 PM.

Okay, so I'm wondering about Oscar's education. IIRC, it's not really touched on in either series. I'm guessing, based off the birthdate from the second after series movie, that Oscar was a sailor during WW II since he would have only have become of age near the end of the war and then gone to Annapolis right afterward. I would think that being head of the OSI, I would be surprised if he held anything less than a master's engineering or some equivalent from his naval years, a couple of them wouldn't surprise me at all. OTOH, assuming he got out of the Navy anywhere between '63 to '65, chances are good that at that time he could have just studied for the bar exam and passed without necessarily going to school for it. I'm also wondering were he might have passed the bar. I would guess Virginia because I think Virginia is one of the states that if you pass the bar there you could pretty much practice anywhere, which could not be said for a lot of other states at that time. If anyone has any info I may have missed or any thoughts on his education, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
