As you know Bionika, it's really nice to get feedback on your work. Any little thoughts you have would be welcome.

Hello Messyhead

Yes, now that I'm posting my own story, I know that..and I'm eager to read reader's comments (if I post "late" and go to bed straight after have shut down the computer; I open it after breackfast in order to see if somebody have post comments... ). I also have a look on board statistic after posting, with "last click", I know if somebody is reading the story and I notice too how many views have been made.

But it's difficult for me to post after each chapter because I think that I always say the same things : "It's very good, I'm waiting for next chapter..."

I admire you, Beth and OJFan because you post nearly after each chapter and you find comments to add.

Still though, I still think it's good to say even the dullest thing just to let the writer know you've read it - especially if you've enjoyed it. It's encouraging.

I agree. Sometimes when the chapters are longer, you really have substantive comment. Bionka, some of yours are fairly short chapters, so I don't necessarily have anything deep or profound to say after each one, but I certainly am enjoying your story.

When I post a story, I too like even just a comment to let me know you've read it and like it. Sometimes I'm guilty though when I get busy of reading a story and not commenting - I usually go back later though and add my comments then :)

Yes,that's true, messyhead. For instance, I found the LBL very difficult bacause you don't have any feedback before end of story (if you finish it of course) and you don't know if you are doing well and if readers enjoy it.

I'll try to be a better "cheerreader" :D

OJFan, I understand that some chapters are only narratives with not too much suspense and don't need necessarily a comment.

Just after reading a story, I don't think immediatly to a comment, then the comment go to my mind but usually it's too late : the computer is shut down. And the following day , I read the new chapter and forgot to post in the previous one.

I'll go to express some comments to Rudywells about strange social worker on "In the best interest of children" and say to Beth, how I've found clever her idea of Jaime running to jungle of South America.

Thank to you to have push me for that.

I agree with what everyone has said about it being hard to come up with comments for every single chapter of every story. I try to content myself with the number of 'hits' to a story because that tells me people are actually reading it. But I do welcome constructive criticism as well as praise. The example I give on my fanfic profile says:

All reviews are welcome, not just positive ones, as long as they're constructive. (Example: "You stink" is not constructive, but "I didn't like this story because..." is helpful and welcome.) Thanks!

Exactly. I do like constructive criticism as well. Sometimes that comes from having someone preview my story as well - that's always been VERY helpful.

If nobody comments you feel like you have an audience of two people, and after awhile you wonder why you bother. That's where I'm at right now.

This is the pot calling the kettle black though, I ought to do some reviewing over on fanfiction - I have catching up to do! I like getting actual criticism (not 'you stink', of course) because it helps you identify your own weaknesses and make real improvements. Your mind can go into some serious ruts, and you need to get jolted out of them. Praise doesn't make you better - criticism does.

But of course I love praise too!

Example: "You stink" is not constructive,

I just have checked the translation of stink.
Did anybody told you "you stink! " as a comment of a story??? :o

If it's in the main meaning, it's not a comment which has been done, it's a personal assault!!
If the mean is "the story worth nothing", I could understand the use of this word. But yes, if somebody says that , he/she must explain why he thinks like that.

I wonder why Messyhead because Your last story "FAMILY" was very good and each chapter has been seen by about 100 persons and has 3 or 4 comments. ?><

Praise doesn't make you better - criticism does.

I think that praise only is a little bit "false"or "strained". We are not in a" teddybear world" where everybody is kind and everything is nice. I don't appreciate at the same level all the stories even if I read all of them till end.

I think that criticism is difficult to express for me without hurting the writer because the word must be well chosen.
And, as I'm writing my first story, I think that I haven't enough experiment in writing to criticise other writers...
