Biomes of Cylicia, Lokiria, and Aritimanos Posted Image - Forest - Fairly temperate and fertile, these areas are thick with many different species of thick, broad-leaved trees. Consistent seasons and long growing periods make the Forest a good place to settle a small community. Draugans native to these environments are likely to have short coats of fur, earthy colors, and a method of self-defense against the changing seasons and the natural dangers of the Forest itself. - Rainforest - Separated into two seasons of Rainy and Dry, the Tropical Forest is one characterized by a humid and biologically potent environment. Many species of many kinds thrive under the dense canopy of the Rainforest, and they are all aware of the hierarchy. The soil is not so rich here, and settling in a rainforest is not a viable option for many. Considered largely unsettlable, yet very resourceful, it is better to settle on the outskirts of such biomes. Draugans found here are very diverse in color schemes, many of them using camoflauging mechanisms for safety. Often, self-defense mechanisms found in Draugans here has to do with poisons, power, and deception. - Grassland - Wide expanses of tall fields of grass rolling over hills into the distance. Grassland is panoramic from a hilltop. The wildlife here is likely to be fast and shorter than the tallest grass. Little space to hide leaves Draugans to either learn to burrow or confront their enemies head on, leading to some of the most ferocious Draugans on record. - Desert - The Desert outlined here is Semiarid, with more flora and fauna than the hotter and dryer version. Winters bring little rainfall, and the standard temperature over the summer is about 89 degrees Fahrenheit, never exceeding 100. Draugans native to this environment are likely to be rough and mottled, devoid of fur and adapted to the heat and the small amount of water yearly. To escape the heat, many creatures find any shade they can, and are usually small and agile in order to accomplish this by crawling under rocks or burrowing. The sand found here is not tan but a terra cotta sort of color. - Coastal Desert - Somewhat cooler than the Desert found to the East, this Coastal Desert is even more habitable. It is never too hot or too cold here, often reasonable in temperature and seasons. The Draugans found here are likely to be much like those found in the Desert, but more aquatic. More reptiles live here, as do amphibians, and they are all prepared to face the dangers of the harsh environment surrounding them. Many wildlife found in the Desert find safety by either taking trouble to not be seen or by intimidating their would-be predators. - Savannah - Much like Grassland but with trees, the Savannah is a place characterized by a limited amount of rainfall in a certain time period, usually 6-8 months in succession. After these months, there is a drought in which seasonal fires kill much of the flora. These fires also kill quite a bit of small creatures that scavengers find appealing enough that they are always looking for fires in the season of drought. Wildlife here should be apt at dealing with competition in whatever way works for them, and should always be prepared for the season of drought and fire. - Boreal Forest - Seasons are divided into short, moist, and moderately warm summers and long, cold, and dry winters. The length of the growing season in boreal forests is 130 days, meaning that there is a possibility of settlements in these regions so long as they do not rely solely on agriculture for sustainment. These Forests are far harsher than others, and the wildlife found here more brutal. This is the region where Draugans keep to packs and communitiies, relying on one another to make it through the dangers of the cold forest. - Tundra - Found so far only in the Northwestern region of Cylicia, this biome is one of fairly cold summers and harsh winters, getting as low as -30 degrees Fahrenheit. There are no trees, but many flowers, grasses, small shrubs, and mosses. The wildlife is generally herbivorous, with few carnivorous Draugans. Referenced Biome details from here.
