I think the next step is to try to get this thread back on topic.

Any one else disappointed by the role Skull Face played?
I was hoping he'd be, say, Colonel Volgin levels in his villainy.
He just kinda died right after the climax of chapter 1, without doing much in said climax.

So far, to me, Skullface reminds me of a playground bully that never really amounts to much lol.

@Solid; Yeah, man. I noticed when he started tellin' me to ''stand back and look'' that he was starting to wave his dick around like it meant anything. Was waiting for him to start bringing out all the bullshit.

There were certain parts where I really liked with Skull Face. Some great monologues, but he could've been written so much better. His character had a lot of potential.

Loved him as a character though. His cassette tapes were great at fleshing him out and portraying him. His character was genuinely interesting as well, but above all else, my favorite thing was his voice actor
"Looks like he wasn't so loyal after all."
He did such a great job.
Skull Face was so damn close to being one of my favorite Metal Gear antagonists.

Oh yeah, totally, his motivation wasn't exactly genius.
At least his backstory was cool.

Best line in the game 10/10

A fiddle to surpass Miller.

I actually took the line seriously when I first played. I only realized how stupid it was second time around.
Same with the Fiddle quote.

I love this fucking dialogue.

That's something I have noticed, from day 1; the dialogue. This game's dialogue, imo is NOT Metal Gear dialogue. It's GREAT dialogue, but it just feels so weird in most places/

I never really noticed that big of a difference. Except for like, more meme potential from it.
But then again, maybe that's just me.

I agree, much more realistic dialogue. I knew the game's dialogue would be better as well because the cassette tape approach. The cutscenes are more straight to the point and realistic. Unlike every MGS game, when characters would go on and explain something for another 15 minutes. For example: MGS3 when Volgin's like "The Philosopher's Legacy" Snake of course says "The Philosopher's Legacy?" then Volgin or other said character begins to talk about it for a while. DONT GET THIS TWISTED, I've always loved MGS because of that. It's part of it's charm.

Like you said Scotia, its "MGS dialogue". TPP has a newer approach. The cassette tapes discuss the plot around you and what's going on in full detail in the story. Giving you complete knowledge of what everyone is talking about, making the cutscenes more realistic. No need for long explanations because you know what's going on already, due to the tapes.

I love the cassette tapes. They're entertaining to listen too.
Exxxxxcccceeept some of the Code Talker ones.

The Humburgers of Kazuhira Miller was the fucking best cassette tape arc. There should have been more joke tapes like that.

I like the majority of Code Talker's tapes. But the "Code Talker and his research[4]" tape...dear god. That was bad haha He started to talk about the origin of the parasite and how it gave humans language. It got bad haha

Well, the last 2 pages were cancer.

Also, I dont really cared when im being "called out" for having a different opinion. I liked every MGS game up to this point. I wouldnt care for most of the issues if it was a linear game like it used to be. But if the game says its open world and im a Big Boss and I have no freedom whatsoever (besides visiting the same outposts over and over again fultoning 4 guys and stealing 500 materials) then I feel quite entlitled to not liking it.

It's not like im completely hating the game. I would still rate it 6,5/10 and keep in mind that im actually using all 10 grades, 6,5 means above avarage, not complete shit like most people think.

The game's greatest achievment? Perfect port to PC. Even games made for PC only dont work as great as MGS V. Fantastic optimising of the game, very good controls (besides rolling) in this terms its a masterpiece.

I'm convinced Code Talker suffers from at least a degree of delusion.
That cassette tape convinced me of it.

I was actually thinking from the trailers that he was some mystic, but then once you recruit him he starts mouthing off about parasites and nuclear weapons.

Well when you're asking for freedom enough to kill off a character that is PIVOTAL to the storyline and would create the biggest time paradox, that's a pretty stupid expectation to have.

Only tapes I didnt listen to are "Afganistan and Africa today" + some of Code Talker ones. Dude talks way too slow and basically just repeats himself over and over again. Good voice acting, but cmon. If it was a codec call, cutscene, okay, but I dont feel like sitting in helicopter and listening to this bullshit. And I certainly wont listen to it on the field.

I listen to the tapes while exploring Mother Base. You get to move around with no risk, not just sitting there. Tranq sniping my own soldiers, practicing bullet drop.

I dont really need to kill Liquid and rest of the kids. Just let me put them in cells or ban from Mother Base or stop making characters do stupid decisions.

OMG GET RID OF HUEY
OMG SNAKE PLS KILL QUIET
Liquid and kids are totally fine, they're so cute.

You have plenty of freedom. Just nothing that affects the story, save for killing or saving Quiet.
I make it a point to never do something the same way. If I've done something before, I do whatever possible to avoid doing it the same way I did last time.

I doubt they could have implemented more story choices well, anyways. This is one of Big Boss' prequel games, after all.

Well this goes completely against what you've been previously saying. You've stated more than twice that you feel like you should have the freedom to kill of Liquid and throw him out of the helicopter.
So you see why I've called you out on that? Now you're changing what you've been saying.

I like to just relax while listening to them.

Speaking of Mother Base, am I alone in thinking MB was kind of boring?
Not that I'm complaining. Just wasn't much to do there.
Totally loved that exploring it was an option though.
The different sections of Mother Base didn't need to be so far away from eachother, though. I feel like more people would have died on their way to the Medical plant than there are people who've actually made it there to get treatment.
