People need to stop taking that site seriously. This fanbase cannot learn to let go and accept that MGSV is final. No more story content is coming. It's MGO3, DLC skins and that's it.

I mean,what is their purpose?What are they doing?What are they after?Why they're doing this?

Dunno but tbh I don't really think it belongs in a spoiler thread.

Hello folks, new here. Having recently finished the game, I can't stop thinking about it, so I find myself here. Like most of you, I have some mixed feelings about about it. The revelation that you're not actually playing as Big Boss (but you sort of kind of still are?) seems equal parts genius and disingenuous to me. It's kind of genius in that it helps to explain how Big Boss dies so many times and plays so many conflicting roles later in the series, and it also makes good on the promotional promise of this game that we, the players, must become Big Boss. However, to do all this stuff and then find out that, well actually, the *real* "hero" of this story has been elsewhere doing god knows what the whole time is... kind of angering. I don't know.

Of course all the conspiracy theories about cut content have started, but my own two cents are as follows. I don't buy that there would have been a full-on Chapter 3. I know a lot of people wanted this game to lead more directly into the original MG and resolve some lingering plot threads in the series, but I don't think they ever intended to do that. It's the missing mission 51 is what really hurts, because it leaves huge dangling threads from story elements that were introduced *in this game*. That would have resolved the glaring Eli/Sahelanthropus plot thread, and given us a climactic battle to close things off. My hunch is that either a) That mission would have functioned like the Zeke battle in that you'd access it after getting through the hard mode missions, or that b) there would have been more story-lite missions in Chapter 2 that were cut and replaced with the hard modes (if so, that's unfortunate, but not the *biggest* loss). Everything else in *this* game was more or less resolved, even if it wasn't to everyone's satisfaction.

Enjoyed reading this thread and look forward to more feedback.

Wat

It's not a mystery if you know the Metal Gear timeline. He was busy forming Outer Heaven.

Right, well, apologies. I missed the intro notice.

As to the other comment, yes, I know the timeline. But given that the Outer Heaven uprising isn't for another ten years, there was no need time-wise to have the "real" Big Boss off elsewhere. Anyway, it's not a big deal, I was just thinking out loud.

Idk it seemed to make more sense for Big Boss to spend 10+ years building a country, rather than remaking what didn't work

But he's building an entire nation. That would take a lot of time, he needed to leave and get to it as soon as he could. You don't just build a fortress overnight, let alone in a year. Something like Outer Heaven would take years JUST for the base. Then he needs to recruit people, collect defectors, all kinds of shit. Outer Heaven was a massive undertaking.

Before release I was planning to try get 100%, but games are about enjoying to me and running after that number isn't so fun/important imo. I might skip getting 100%, but I'll try getting most achievements though as there's still plenty for me to do so maybe get them easily :).

Just finished the main game and have avoided anything on game websites to do with MGSV as not to spoil it but Kojima/Konami managed to do that for me. This was going to be a MGS3 beater but then it ended like a slap to the face. So I do lots of gameplay around the parasite and even get a cut scene with Quiet rolling around on the MB deck in the rain but I get the main lore, the reason I've played all these games, on god dam tapes. What a disaster of a story, MGS2 is better than this for story. A Medic, a bloody Medic, ah come on. It feels like a pointless game for the lore. Anyone who says they are happy with the ending is nuts and is putting on a brave face but must feel let down. What a way to destroy a legacy. David Hayter must be laughing to himself.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you can't be saying stuff that anyone who likes the ending is nuts. Everyone has their own experience. You have to at least have respect for others opinions, you can't just dismiss someone else's feelings about it as nuts. Everything else you've said, you're entitled to. Just don't resort to labeling the opposing opinion as nuts.

It's not what I wanted but I can't do anything about it and appreciate what I have. This game was developed under terrible working environments. The fact that the game plays as good as it is and the turmoil going on at Konami is a miracle in itself. The ending wasn't terrible for me and understood why he went this direction, and I like it for what it is and what it tried to do. It just didn't have the best execution nor pacing. If you go back in past pages of this thread, I've already explained myself.

I will also point out that MGS2 is pretty well received with most of this forum, so prepare for backlash for what you said about MGS2's story. I'm just preparing you, if it happens.
