So a new Metal Gear game has been announced. IGN's description and trailer Something about MSF troops fighting alternate universe hyperzombies. Right. |

Lol...... I'm sure the people on the front page will eat it up. It's all they do. Not a single person comments on MGI's tweets, just likes and RTs, then they flock to the front page to ''hate'' the pachinko shit all while praising it and loving it, too. They'll love this, as well I'm sure. Morons. Edited by Hoss, Aug 17 2016, 04:30 PM.

"The final fact sheet classes Survive as a 'survival action game' with a release date of '2017'. Interestingly, this won't be a full price game. While no further details were given, I did catch sight of a print out that suggests a 30 Euro ($33) price point.|" - gametrailers At this point It would not surprise me if this is an expansion pack for MGO, wouldn't surprise me if Konami were being shady and not announcing that just yet due to hype deflation. I haven't read anywhere that this is a standalone p.s sup bros Edited by Brett, Aug 17 2016, 06:23 PM.

Haven't been here in a while. Good to check in with you guys. Came straight here after watching the trailer. It doesn't look anything like Metal Gear. I enjoy zombie games, but it seems I'll be passing on this one. Who knows.... Maybe it will turn out to be fun, just not Metal Gear like. Edited by Mark, Aug 18 2016, 05:53 AM.

To be fair, if it holds down the mechanics of MGSV then i'll grab it - my favourite shooter in a long long time! |

I'll keep an eye on how it develops, but my interest is about the same as it was for that Resident Evil PVP game that came out recently. |

Well, I tried the beta. The game isn't bad, but insignificant. I felt like I should just replay MGSV rather than get Survive. The stealth works pretty much as it did in MGSV. First I thought they had removed first-person view, rolling and throwing down, but those actions are just mapped to different key-combinations this time. What I think has been removed is the binocular, I couldn't figure out a way to mark enemies. The zombies make a more annoying sentry to sneak up on than regular soldiers, since they move around unpredictably. Since there was a timer on the mission and you need to hurry to collect materials I chose to abandon stealth and just charged at the zombies. Turns out it was effective, especially after I developed a charged attack. There are varying enemy types and power levels, so perhaps stealth is valid in other missions that aren't included in the beta. Melee system is unconventional. I suppose it can work once you get used to it, but my first impression was negative. Too clunky for my taste. If there were other missions to play than the one where you defend the beam-thingy, I couldn't find a way to access them. The first thing I noticed in the beam-defence mission was that the level is a modified version of the Afghanistan outpost from MGSV, where you need to kill or recruit the red beret Russian soldier. I knew the game would use assets from MGSV, but I didn't expect them to copy entire environments too and I didn't like this revelation. Defending the beam was lame. You build obstacles to slow down the advancement of the horde and do all you can to protect the machine, but the whole thing feels like it's in the wrong game. MGSV was about infiltration, the whole gameplay scheme was built around it, so trying to go one-man-army on a horde of zombies was extremely hard for the wrong reasons. There are other games that are preferable for this kind of thing, like Fortnite as a recent example. So what new things Survive offers are done better by other games and what it does well is still inferior to MGSV, which is a game that bears infinite replays. Survive has potential to be decent in a basic sense, but with a market of superior alternatives I choose to skip it. Edited by Zuben, Jan 19 2018, 11:23 AM.
