At this very moment Kojima is working on a new game, of which very little is known. Usually we don't get more information than a photo of Kojima's lunch on Twitter, accompanied by the text that he's having a 'Project Ogre' lunch meeting. However, over the last few years we have had little snippets of news regarding Hideo Kojima’s mysterious project. Because it was easy to miss some of them, I have collected them all in one place, while separating rumors from facts.

  • Aside from ‘Project Ogre’, Kojima also refers to the title as ‘Devil Project’. It likely just means that it’s a big, ambitious project.
  • Some time ago Kojima talked about a taboo game that was so controversial it could cost him his job. We haven’t heard anything about this for over a year. It’s unclear wether the taboo game and
  • Project Ogre are one and the same thing, but it could be.
  • Project Ogre will be ‘a Hideo Kojima game’, which means Kojima is the ‘author’ of the game, he plays an important role in the game’s development.
  • It will be a multiplatform title.
  • It will be transfarring enabled.
  • It will run on the Fox Engine.
  • Project Ogre will be a ‘subdued experience’, as Kojima describes it.
  • On the surface it will look like Kojima’s previous work (Metal Gear), but once you get into it, it will be a different experience.
  • Project Ogre will take a lot of time to develop, according to Kojima.
  • Rather than making something very cinematic, Kojima wants to make something very open and free with this game, where players can walk around and explore.
  • Players should even after 100 hours of playing be able to find new stuff in the game.
  • Kojima released a single screenshot on his Twitter:

Which looks similar to this earlier photo of a presentation:

The jungle environments in turn look similar to those in the Fox Engine tech demo Kojima showed at E3 2011:

  • In the Kojima Productions podcast of January 26th 2012, in reaction to the complaints that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance wouldn’t feature stealth, the staff members mentioned that Kojima is working on a more traditional title that the fans would appreciate, and that uses the Fox Engine. It isn’t confirmed wether or not this is Project Ogre, but it is likely, since it was talked about in the context of Kojima working on a new IP. It’s the most logical conclusion I can draw.
  • Project Ogre will probably be shown at E3 2012.

Official Playstation 3 Mag UK said that kojima's new game will be full of boobs and bombs, and then showed the pic of the tank thing, and the pic of the girls with the see-through tops (you can see there bra's).

So, thats the insite of paid journalists to add to this thread

At first I thought it was a game centered around a journalist in an exotic country trying to uncover the truth a la Dead Rising meets Uncharted. Has Hideo ever code named one of the Metal Gear games before? that alone makes me think it's NOT a Metal Gear game, but you never know.

Ogre could mean what you mentioned - it's a big game in general. Or a game where you're up against a formidable opponent/task. Devil would draw a bit more parity with the taboo statement. Resident Evil 5 came under fire for taking place in a fictional Africa (stupid N'Gai) perhaps Hideo was indirectly referring to that if he were to make a game about exploitation in a 3rd world country.

Anyways. I'm liking the whole FOX engine development so far. Nothing says progress like snapping pictures of chicks in bikinis. Keep it up, Hideo /muchapproved.

I don't think this is MGS, it didn't seem that way from the OPM interview a while back. He talks about this game as if it's a new IP.
New Project Ogre Details - No Wii U Version and the game will confront delicate issues.

I guess the only hope to see this at E3 is either at Sony or MS's conference.

I'm afraid we won't see it this E3. Maybe in July, when Kojima Productions is going to show the Fox Engine.

Maybe they won't show in-game stuff, but a teaser with the game's official title.
Its weird how they skip E3 and just show the game a month later.

Yeah, and I think Kojima said last year that he would show it this E3. Not sure though, but that's what I thought. Would be nice if it was at Sony's conference.

Interesting. But what's the reason people think it's Ogre?

couldn't find the topic so I don't know, I'm guessing probally just because that seems to be from a game that hasn't been seen and that Kojima is @ e3 and has a new game....

Though I looks more like an evolution of Mass Effect than anything else so who knows
