The Tanker level is the best level, from all MGS games.
It is pretty fucking great isn't it?

I really enjoy the dialogue between Snake and Otacon here, and they did a fucking great job with showing a more mature Snake. I know that was one of Kojima's goals with MGS2, which is why Raiden became the playable character, since it showed Snake in a different light, which was brilliant. But they did a great job with the Tanker too, he really knows his shit you can tell he's a more experienced and more sure of himself and shit, I really enjoyed that.

Then there's all the great codec calls during the tanker, really funny stuff, and the tight corridors were great for gameplay, rain storm looked awesome as well. It's a really good piece of the story.

I like the Plant chapter more, but I think the Tanker is more atmospheric. I really do love Shadow Moses, Tanker and the Plant so much. They all feel so refined and the way they're played makes you so familiar with it all, it's not just a straight line you're running through the game, you get to know the place really well and.. I don't know, it just really adds atmosphere

I do agree on the more "mature" Snake. You can just tell how much he's grown since MGS1. He feels more comfortable and confident, just by the way he talks with Otacon in the dialogue. It lets the player know that Otacon and Snake have done a lot already with "Philanthropy".

I will say the tanker chapter on the HD collection looks so crisp. The rainstorm, the corridors, it all looks so crisp as the original game intended. The music in the tanker chapter is some of the best in the series. Titles such as "Opening Infiltration", "Tanker Incident", "Ray Escapes" (My personal favorite from the tanker chapter). It sets the atmosphere so well. It just gives you that "this game is going to be so fucking awesome" feeling.

I think the Tanker chapter was such a great build-up for the Plant. In fact, a perfect setup for it. You play with Snake, who is obviously more mature and well-rounded. Then you go to play with Raiden. His first field mission since he was "Jack The Ripper". Raiden was supposed to represent, you, the player. To show Snake in a third perspective. For me, it ultimately made him look more badass.

Anyways, I'm rambling. MGS2 is just too fucking good.
Forgot to mention this awhile ago, it's crazy to think that Metal Gear has been a part of me for over half my life. I'm turning 21 in May. I first played MGS1 when I was 7 years old in 1998 when the game released. MGS was such a large part of my childhood. It's been in my life for over 13 years. It's hard to fathom that. It's so dear and near to me. They're more than just games to me, they're a part of my up-bringing.

Yeah, they did a great job with the HD collection, the dark, narrow corridors look really good in it, the wet puddles by the doors and shit, looks good. The rain storm never gets old, it looks fantastic.

Big Shell looks really good as well, specially when the sun sets later in the game, looks beautiful.

Agreed with the music, set the mood so well. Opening Infilitration, Russian Soldiers, FUCKING TANKER INCIDENT. Soundtrack overall is brilliant. I really like the opening theme to the Plant chapter as well "Big Shell"

This of course is true for all MGS games, they all have brilliant soundtracks that really fit each individual game super well.
To yer edit, yeah I've been thinking the same thing. I'm 20, turning 21 in august, MGS has been a part of my life for 10 years, that's half my life. I posted as well in the faction that they really are more than just games at this point, it's been such a big part of your life, it's quite crazy. It was more than just playing them, at least for me, it was countless amount of hours discussing with friends, hyping new games, playing together.

Snake was my childhood hero, no other fictional character I admired more than him, and it was all through just the visual point of view, I didn't know enough english to follow the story but you could still see that Raiden was the rookie and Snake was the hero both Raiden and you wanted to be. MGS2 being the way it is, the fact that you didn't play as Snake, really helped with making Snake this hero figure, even more than he was before. I don't think I would've admired him as much if it weren't for MGS2.

Would have to agree with you guys. Loved the Tanker chapter. Adored the cutscene before the shoot out with Olga.
Just finished what I thought would be my plat playthrough of Snake Eater, but apparently I killed someone, 1 person, and I'm trying to think who the fuck it was. Gutted. At the same time, though, this just means one more playthrough, which is never a bad thing. I'll hold it off until the weekend then. Still, who could it have been...I remember knocking someone out with CQC, and I remember one of those hover craft guys crashing after the Volgin fight, although I highly doubt they'd count that, so I don't know.

I can see the moon, pale as death, even in this storm.

The tanker mission is really good for Snakes "Image" in the plant. How you perceive him... As a bad-ass. Since plant seems like a different game to me.

Played around a little on the Tanker, and I just love the storm so much, they did a really great job at making the storm chaotic looking, it really is a crazy storm, rain just everywhere

if you pause the game you can see the drops and shit, looks really impressive.

I absolutely adore every single one from MGS1 and MGS2 I honestly don't think I can pick just a few select ones.

Revolver Ocelot
Gray Fox
Psycho Mantis
Hind D
Sniper Wolf Snowfield
Vulcan Raven
Metal Gear Rex
Liquid Snake
Olga
Fatman
Harrier
Vamp
Metal Gear Rays
Solidus Snake
The End
The Fury

I thought the small text would make it seem like a smaller select few, lol. Honestly I can't do it... Psycho Mantis, Hind D, Rays I feel are definite ones that I can easily pick, but they're not necessarily my absolute favorites. Hardest is picking for MGS2, I really just can't, because there isn't one that completely overshadows the others, something all other games have, in MGS2 they all blend together very well and they're my favorite set but I can't individually pick them apart, if I put them up against others in the series I can, but together picking them apart is really tough.

So answer is more or less every single boss battle from MGS1 and 2.

Crying Wolf is probably my favorite. Or the true last boss of Peace Walker. Either of those two.

I guess Psycho Mantis is my "favorite" I don't just like how it's trippy, I think it's genuinely a good fight, I like how he uses furniture and objects in the room to attack you, and the way I played it, it always took ages to beat him because I never switched controller slots, so he was always in the mind-reading mode, in which you only hit like 1 out of 10 shots on him, which made it a very tough battle and long lasting. I've had a very good experience with the boss battle so I guess I could say he's my favorite in a sense.

Hind D I bring up because I really like the build up and it's excellent setting, it's a great fight in that sense. Gameplay wise it's not stronger than the Harrier but it's still a more memorable fight, but maybe it's not fair to call it one of my absolute favorites, it probably isn't, from a story and atmosphere perspective it is though.

But really all the ones I listed are my favorites, lol. I love them all incredibly much, favorite bosses ever.

I honestly can't even choose my favorite boss battle from the series. So many are so memorable and so distinct from one another.

You know something I kinda wanna do is buy the japanese version of the HD Collection just to have japanese versions of the game, it'd be cool to play MGS2 and 3 in Japanese.

Been rewatching a lot of old Metal Gear Solid 3 trailers, that's what made me kind of want the japanese version, just to try and play them in Japanese, it'd be cool if you could have english subtitles

This fucking trailer

I remember how I hyped I got seeing it, all the bosses, I just could not wait to face off against them

I have a japanese version of MGS2, I've never tried to play it. I might try it, if I can get english subtitles somehow.
God, it's amazing how much better the HD version of MGS3 is than the original. Just got re-played the whole chase scene on the bike with Eva. So fucking awesome.

Also, was thinking about great cinematic events in MGS. Which game you think has the best camera work in MGS? Not the best cutscenes, but best camera work. Such as presentation, the angles, the zoom. I thought MGS4 was incredible in that regard.

I think I would say MGS4 as well, but the camera work is great in all of them. It's just that they perfected it in MGS4, and it's so well thought out, pretty much flawless.

Water can be an interesting aspect of a game, i.e. making underwater domes in Minecraft. I just hate swimming in it(in games that is, kinda like it irl). Movement is slow and clumsy and in many games being in water bars you from using your basic functions.
