As much as I love the MGOs, I let 'em go... I just want MGO3 with FOXENGINE.

I only like MGO on MGS3: Subsistence. That was fun as shit. They had it right. MGS4's MGO....eh.

I was going to say the same. Love to see Cartman be positive about MGS4. Now if only he would say the same about PW.;p
Gotta play it first, although seeing a lot of elitist mgs fans opinion on it, I wouldn't be super shocked if I wind up being on their side, lol... I guess my opinion of it from the very little I've played is bummery as it is
Just go into PW with an open mind man. Yes, the recruiting of soldiers is different and you get put in certain location for each mission. I know that's not traditional MGS, but the formula really works in PW. It gets addicting adding soldiers and sending them on missions, building weapons. It's awesome. The gameplay is my favorite besides MGS2. Fucking great story, artwork in the cutscenes. Just give it a whirl.

Meh, MGO.
If I were a bitch I would call you "ignorant" , but I'm just joking ^_^

I always found MGO cool but very hard to get into , and the dynamic wanted w/ those "clunky" controls didn't help very much ...

As for PW , I played the portable ops games and feared it was going to be the same thing bis repetita , but it's not.The story is indeed very hooking and you can't miss those (interactive) cutscenes, so are the recruiting / building / searching mechanics.
You really feel you do that on purpose , you feel the whole thing growing and in the end that's compelling.I'm not a big fan of those tiny zones though and the game feels very easy (chapter 3 so far) cause of the lack of improvisation the AI is facing. It takes off something that I really loved in MGS4.
That said , the gameplay is smooth and well crafted.
It's a great game.

Joking or not, my ''meh'' is based on my experience with both installments of MGO, both of which are hard to get into from a gameplay perspective and are overall clunky. I'd be ignorant if I were saying it without any experience.

I have yet to play mgo1, which is what those guys on the forum want to revive, either through their own remake or through taking the original code and putting it on their own server.

However i love MGO2, impossible to get into after the first six months. I don't find the controls clunky and the aiming is as quick and accurate as a mouse and keyboard, I originally thought that was why they were getting all of those headshots. The MGO community is very skilled but its full of d**kheads.

Exactly :)
Will there be a Solid Snake movie topic? (if there's one I'm blind)

Here are little infos : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fGN4nQBDXGI

Not a big relevant link but it's talking about about the movie so....Hugh Jackman won't be Solid Snake , Arad and Kojima expect/want a rising star for this project.

I don't know if anybody has already linked to this, but here it is anyway.

Kojima Believes Player Freedom Is The Future Of MGS
http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/12001.html

I felt he somewhat achieved this with MGS4 (not the open world part, the player choice thing).

Found another cool MGS4 analysis, this time delving more into the gameplay side of things.

http://www.1up.com/features/sons-big-bucks-metal-gear

Written by James Clinton Howell, who also wrote these two:

He also has a youtube channel, with a very helpful MGS3 Fox Hound guide.

Konami needs to make some updates MGS figures, of all the bosses and such. Maybe have Play Arts Kai make 'em. Would love to see Raven and Mantis figures.

I quite enjoy it, I do wish they could do it in a way where Snake doesn't hold his weapons like a rabbit though

I think the knock down was absolutely done best in MGS3, it had great feedback to it and was just brutal, it made sense taht you knocked the fuck out the enemy, in mgs4 however it was just really awkward, he just sort of gently throws them down

I will say though that the new moves added to MGS4 were great, I loved choking them out in that low position where you make them face the dirt as you choke em' out, the disarming was also cool but it was done really poorly, but I do hope it returns in Ground Zeroes but make it less.. weird to trigger, I mean now you have to press R1 release then press again and hold for him to do it and it doesn't even work at all times, but it did feel great doing and with smoother animations for Ground Zeroes they could have some cool animations for you disarming your enemy.

I don't like what they've done to the melee combat I guess, MGS2 perfected that shit, it's so quick and the nutshot was just the most entertaining thing ever to do and also very satisfying.. the sloppy punch, punch kick combo in mgs3 and onwards is just terrible, I do realize it's more realistic but it's so much more fun to do a spin kick in an enemy's face

Yeah, I love cqc. CQC and knifing was the basis of my MGO career lol. It's a very deep system. What were your thoughts on PW cqc? Would you like the cqc combo in GZ?

Edit: I realize career is a silly phrase to describe my time on mgo but i didn't know how else to describe it

Career is a perfectly sound term. Most gamers use it to describe a prolonged time spent in a certain online mode. :p

Good to know.

Edit: Sorry Cartmen, i would write a more substantial post but I'm trying to keep quiet. My keyboard is loud.

I would like to see the CQC system get fleshed out more, in GZ, to be honest. I really liked what it was doing in MGS3, and PW, but I feel there is so much more they can do with it. Especially when you go by how The Joy describes it, and how she uses it in MGS3. It just seems like there is more there we haven't been given yet.
