Speaking of which, how badly did you shit your pants at that moment? Me and a few friends were playing it, and then Otacon calls and starts yelling that they're in the elevator, my friend literally turned white, we started screaming, ahahah. Good ol' days |

Yet in MGS2 they love to talk through codec every chance they get. Why is that?? |

There is something surprisingly eerie about it. I got quite cold at that moment, quite spooky. I didn't see it coming till that pause just before he said "WATCH OUT SNAKE! THEIR IN THERE WITH YOU." there's also something quite scary about Otacons panic face |

Biggest thing I remember about that moment is before then when otacon comes to you next to the lift and comes out of stealth mode, the sound effect that is played is ripped right out of Doom :/ |

Cause in MGS2 the nanomachines allow for them to talk without making any sounds, that's why they use it when right next to each other, cause just in case anybody's listening in, they won't hear shit |

Still, the codec is all sorts of wtf. In MGS1 Campbell says only Snake can hear the message sound, but after the fight with Liquid Meryl can hear it. |

Might have something to do with Meryl and Otacon both having codecs themselves and that's why they could hear stuff Snake heard? Since he had their frequency and had talked to them before But the codec is still weird, it's audio only, yet Snake says stuff such as "You're cute" but it doesn't really bother me, lol |

CODECs really ask for suspension of disbelief. Time usually stands still during CODEC conversations, for example, and there are other consistencies like the ones already mentioned. But I don't mind, it's the same as Snake having 20 guns on him. |

Yeah, it's never bothered me.. I mean I have at times thought "oh... having a conversation in the middle of a firefight usosilly" but it doesn't like bring you out of the experience or anything. |

Well, remember when "Miller" and Snake are talking about Naomi, "Miller" said that campbell might be listening in. Perhaps if they registered each-others codec numbers they can listen in.

Just finished MGS1. I love this game. Snake's character took a really natural progression with MGS2, I mean I know he's out to "live life" at the end of MGS1 but comes back to fighting, but I mean his new ideologies and shit, it transfers over to MGS2 very well. They didn't just reset him, which is great I really like the story arch and Liquid's plans, his Outer Heaven. FoxDie is a great twist as well. God damn, Shadow Moses in general, the entire facility, just the greatest setting ever. Feel free to quote me on wall of text below as they're thoughts of mine, so if I'm wrong/right I'd like to know, lol I probably shouldn't have played the games in the order I did (MGS3, MGS2, MGS4, MGS1) My mind right now is just a cluster piecing together the "real" truth behind actual events, lol. I mean I can follow the story fine in MGS1 but knowing all the stuff that really went on, Patriot's involvements, Solidus, it's very confusing to puzzle it all together in my head, lol. Metal Gear Rex was created by the patriots, it had to have been, considering Donald Anderson's involvement, right? it with the entire facility was seized by Liquid and his unit, something Solidus had cooked up with the help of Ocelot, he plans to steal Rex and use it to fight the Patriots, but obviously fails, Secretary of Defense Jim Houseman acts on his own and plans to bomb the place, Patriots do not like this as it would mean they couldn't entirely cover up the incident, Solidus then acts as "president" presumably under the patriots will, since he's more or less forced, he couldn't at the time reveal who's side he was on since he had nothing to fight back with, anyways removes Jim and sets Colonel free. Some time later, the events of Shadow Moses go public and the patriots knowing he's not on their side forces him to resign as president and plans to eliminate him, but with the help of Ocelot he escapes underground What was the Patriots goal with Rex? Was it as simple as it's told in the game, for power? I mean it'd make sense knowing how the patriots operate, their cycles of things when it comes to war and all that So Ocelot wasn't on Solidus' side, but working as a Spy for the patriots, which was a cover up as well. I can grasp that, but all these wasted opportunities he had, Big Shell and Arsenal Gear, Rex.. why did he not use this against The Patriots? It made sense before MGS4 but then when it's revealed that his ultimate goal was the same as Solidus Snake's, which was bringing down the patriots, you have to ask why he wasted the opportunities he had? How could he possibly have known that a better one would come up? I'm not actually sure if Ocelot was working for the patriots during the Shadow Moses Incident, can anyone answer that. If he was then what was his actual goal during Shadow Moses, I get it was to kill Donald and retrieve the data, but why did he need to side with Solidus in secret? The Patriots used him to get the Rex's data sold to the black market to help fund their new project. All he needed was the data, why did he have to aid Solidus in his plan? Did he see Liquid's Outer Heaven plan as an ideal take on the patriots? Does that make sense? That's the only reason I could see for him siding with Solidus and putting this whole event in motion, if he saw Liquid's plan as an ideal thing and when it failed he simply went back to being under cover? It's late as shit, I'm tired and probably rambling, I've probably contradicted myself somewhere in this wall of text, if not.. good for me. Either way, I'd appreciate some comments on it, am I right? wrong? Another note: Anybody know anything about this ![]() "Hideo Kojima, in a twitter blog, posted a picture of one of the designers drawing Solid Snake as well as a female character, strongly implying that Solid Snake is going to end up reappearing in a future game. " I have no idea when this was posted, saw it on the MG Wikia so it could be absolutely nothing. Edited by Cartman, Mar 18 2012, 06:40 AM.

During MGS1, Solidus was still part of the Patriots so yeah, Ocelot was with them. The moment they got rid of Solidus, he became a 'spy' I guess. As for his true loyalty, I guess Revolver Ocelot wanted to belong to the Patriots, having true control and power... However, Liquid wants to destroy them. By MGS4 Liquid has completely taken over. |

Ocelot wasn't really loyal to anyone, except Big Boss. About that picture, I believe that was just a test drawing because Shinkawa just received that tablet. I think it's nothing more than an example. |

So, I'm guessing the reason Ocelot sided with Solidus during the Shadow Moses Incident was because he actually saw potential in their plan on taking on the patriots? If that's not it, I really can't see why he'd side with him. He had the same objective from both sides, retrieve the Rex data, end outcome, nothing he did for Solidus during the incident was relevant, except if it was to gain his trust for their next big project (S3) but it couldn't have been that because The Patriots at the time had no idea Solidus was anything but one of their puppets, so for Ocelot to have been working to gain his trust, they would've been totally clued in on his plans for Shadow Moses, which they were not Cmon assess my post, lol, I was totally expecting to wake up and have it all answered We all know Ocelot was working for the patriots and that Solidus ended up being just another puppet, but the reveal that Ocelot wasn't really on their side really does mess with it a bit, why did he waste opportunities to strike at them? Big Shell Incident surely seemed like the perfect time, control of Arsenal Gear, instead he chose to side with them during this time, how could he have known he'd have a better opportunity to take them on in the future? Seems like such a wasted opportunity |

To be honest these questions make my head spin. I guess it just isn't 100% accurate anymore in retrospect.
