Playing MGS4 before GZ's really made adjusting to the 'snap' to cover shit hard to deal with
that never happened to me. but the snap to cover was bullshit though at times. especially if you are running and happen to bump into a wall

I had the most problems with it when trying to run around a corner out of cover, Snake kept trying to snap back into cover on both sides of what I was trying to get around which often resulted in a mission retry... Very frustrating

People have MGO2 working again apparently, haven't seen or looked into it, but yeah heard a few comments regarding it.
apparently it's only single player servers though... fun ;/

Well fired up MGS4 again and just having fun with that. It's a really great game that really panders to us folk, got to shadow Moses again and it's so awesome to run around it again, but I really feel like adding thousands of those little robots kinda ruined it... Like Gekko sure that kinda makes sense, but they should have changed those little robots to regular soldiers.

And playing mgs4 and GZ's really shows you how they refined the controls and animations. That said I still think that they are more accurate feeling in MGS4 and that you feel like you have greater control over snake. It's also fucking beautiful like god damn, the weather effects and detail is crazy.


Again I keep coming back to thinking about GZ's and Kojima's reasons for not using Dave for it and then Keith for post headbutt... I think it does a good job of saying, hey this ain't a normal MGS game which both appeals to people who don't like that Kojima-ness of it but it also alienates Kojima fans.
Also what is more apparent is the writing in MGS4 is terrible, I mean it's full blown fan service so it's fine but got MGS5... I'm not sure Kojima has the ability to do the material justice and will end up making a simmerler style campy story with these super dark sub plots that are just out of place (Like in GZ's).

I think MGS5 is going to really struggle because of this. You can watch the trailers and it's full blown MGS levels are stupid awesome fucking cool shit, only with GZ's we got something very diffrent and it didn't really gel.



Idk... I'm happy for Kojima to want to do dark games, but he needs someone who can write dark stuff to do it with him so it works with the usual MGS bullshit. They also need to work a little more on the control scheme... I remember watching the making of MGS4 and they hired a guy from like the gears of war team to help them specifically with the controls... I hope they do a similar thing for this as getting a western dev guy and an outsider in would really help just fine tune the controls which atm, are a bit swimmy

Playing more of MGS4 I think the sniper battle is one of the best boss fights in the series. It's a lot harder than The End and the area is a lot bigger. My only grip is that it's too forgiving and you can basically tank shots.

I'm at the last act now and god damn is it harder here than anywhere else. The biggest problem I think this game has is getting your ass hidden, as there are so many enemies on the map it's hard to get hidden. Also jumping between GZ's and 4 really makes solid snake feel stiff as fuck.

Visually it's as good looking as GZ's though without the camera affects

Last time i checked, this game had some glitches in PPSSPP (i think this is the only good psp emulator).
I'll wait for a version that works right to replay it

when i tried to play it, the cell where Snake is imprisioned had some wall clipping and i could not play it that way.
Maybe the game runs fine after that, but i could not pass this first scene.

Also, the emulator was in 0.9.5, now it is in 0.9.8 so maybe it is fixed.

In a pre-Peace Walker world the controls for PO were good enough, I could enjoy the game for what it was and all the juicy story bits and characters it held. Them in mind it's a bit sad the game is no longer canon, but the good thing is a certain stupid plot twist with a certain russian scientist went in the bin with the rest.

In case anyone is interested, i've tested and MPO runs fine in the latest version of PPSSPP (at least the pc version) and you can assign the look controls to a second analog in a x360 controller, with 1080p, texture filters and all.

So apparently they recently re-released the MGS omnibus in hardcover. Being hardcover's probably improved the original 500-some page binding, but it's also over twice the price of the original paperback version. Maybe it's wise to wait for it to go down in price.
