I have been proven wrong in the past, you know. Something that hasn't given a good impression has in the end been awesome. Everything may change once I hold the controller myself. Or not. We shall see. |

http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/901752-metal-gear-rising-preview-and-interview-platinum-medal - There will be several familiar MGS characters in Revengeance - Raiden joined the PMC after MGS4 to provide for his family - When Raiden first joined the PMC he wasn't fighting, his roles were training other soldiers and providing security, but an event nearly kills him and he has to have his end-of-MGS4 body rebuilt as a cyborg. - Raiden's MGS4 suit is the start of the game the Revengeance suit comes after losing to Sam. - Revengeance will have a deep entertaining combo system. - Revengeance is an action game, and a game made for action game fans, There is a Metal Gear theme that MGS fans will enjoy though, and some may appriciate playing MGS as a cyborg. - Revengeance's story is newcomer friendly - Story might not be important in action games, but in Revengeance they believe the story will motivate players to keep playing and explore the action gameplay. - MGS2 Raiden was feminine and had mixed emotions to counter Solid Snake, but in Revengeance Raiden is the manly character. - Storywise Raiden himself came up with the idea of shoe heels to hold swords for sword fighting, it's part of his own fighting style. The heels themselves work like thumbs. - While sales are important, Platinum are more interested in making a fun game rather than something that will sell. |

I love they are aiming to make a game that's fun, over a game that will break through the market and have top-tier sales. It shows they are about fun and gameplay before anything. Not many companies are like this anymore.

tbh, thats what Platinum seem to be about in general... despite me not really there demographic I really like there last two games Gayontta and Vanquish... both are silly and fun, but have depth and quality. Now that Suda51 is done with SDATCHER, Kojima needs to let him loose on a full game, like another Policenauts |

Is MGR in the same universe? As in, this game is not the 'Acid' of Metal Gear. It exists in the same continuity? Also, is the story loosely connected to MGS? With the patriots no longer being around, will the effects show and be a reason for the games main story? Edited by smegger56, Jun 24 2012, 12:47 AM.

There will be some stuff about Raiden's past, but the game is still officially non-canon. So anything we learn may or may not be how things happened to the "real" Raiden. |

As in, it does not share the same universe as MGS? It's just a 'what if'? |

It does take place in the MGS universe, but it's probably not canon. So the events in the previous games matter for Rising, but the events in Rising probably won't matter for future games. |

Sorry, you guys are going to have to clear this up. I assume Canon refers to something that exists in the same universe and is an official part of that universe. Like Star Trek. 5 different shows, 4 spin offs, all star trek canon. If MGR exists in the same universe as MGS, then surely that is still canon. So, have we had confirmation that MGR is canon or a 'what if' title? Edited by smegger56, Jun 24 2012, 03:00 AM.

Rising isn't canon with the other games of the franchise. |

@ smegger56: In that case, I guess it's a 'what if' scenario. It's like Metal Gear Solid in the Game Boy Color. It takes place after MGS1, but it's not canon. |

So it ins't part of the Metal Gear Universe? It is not part of the same timeline as MGS? It is a 'what if' title in the same vein as Snakes Revenge? @Nyxus Thank you. So it only BORROWS from the MGS universe and canon. But is the Snakes Revenge/Ghost Babel of the series Edited by smegger56, Jun 24 2012, 11:53 AM.

Ok. So has that been said in interviews, or are we just basing it off the 'its a spin off' quote? |

They never said (literally) if it's canon or not canon, but they said several times that it's a spin-off, it's not part of the Metal Gear Solid series, and things like that. All in all, it sounds to me like it isn't canon. |

Now you see, spin off also implies it's doing a star trek/stargate. And not part of MGS may only refer to the story. So I think they're going to leave it to fan interpretation of if it is part of the official Metal Gear timeline until they either confirm it through an MGS title or debunk it through an MGS title... or they come and and say it lol Either/or, I'm cool with it. |

I want the ZOE HD collection for the Rising demo... there is no other reason for me to buy ZOE in HD.
