I didn't know it would be through the use of Ground Zeroes, I was assuming it might be

This is making a gameplay demonstration of the game feel much more likely

It makes it more sound like we will see GZ art assets being used in an artificial environment separate from anything relating to the game, other than art assets...
tbh I really wish there wasn't any gameplay shown or trailer... the PR people jumping on the back of GDC to make game announcements and trailer debuts is super lame, I'd rather it was a proper technical talk with Kojima expressing how he goes about making (in his own way and mind) the next big game in a closely followed franchise... shit you can watch/listen to and learn from

e3 is what, a few months away?
Next month we will probably get the next xbox announcement... I know we wont be able to play the game for at least another year or so, so while I'm super excited to see anything new, it's still for something I can't have or play... I'd rather they kept GDC for game developers and not turn it into a press conference for PR companies.

I'd really love to hear proper console dev talk from Kojima and overs about moving forward with the new hardware thats coming soon, how to deal with that and how to continue work on current systems.

I have been waiting for GZ info since September... E3 is too far away. I'm not a game developer, I'm a Metal Gear fan. That said, Kojima already said it will be mainly technical talk about the engine, so don't worry.

Once again, with Nyx

Don't care about the ultra intricate details of the Fox Engine, I'd very much like to learn stuff about it though but I don't need this to be a super formal walkthrough of how their engine operates, as someone who is hyped as shit for the game I'd much prefer we get to see a trailer with this tech talk and perhaps some in-game gameplay demonstration where he talks about... I don't know the AI perhaps

That's a shame because it can help you appreciate things in the games far more than normally. I guess only a true MGS fan would are about such things.

I understand it will be mainly a Fox Engine presentation, but at this point every glimpse of Ground Zeroes is something to be excited about.

The problem isn't so much with Kojima but with turning GDC into the hype buildup for E3, which kinda sucks... I'd rather let Kojima be less focused on GZ's and trailers etc and let him talk about what he wants to do in the next 2-3yrs as a developer and how he feels about what happens when he goes.. etc etc

Except... that is an intricacy of the FOX Engine as well, so clearly, you do care. :p

It if affects the game in a way I care about, I'm interested. If it's just inside info for developers, technical stuff, I can't say I really care that much. But the show is for developers, I get that.

Well yeah, but that's what you get when you're basically quiet for 7 months and have a 90 minute show after that. Also, the fact that it will be streamed makes you think it will be interesting for other people than just developers as well.

While, obviously, I agree with where you're coming from, GDC is slowly becoming what E3 used to be years ago.

During the time I worked at Ubisoft, I had attended FIVE E3's (over the course of 5 years, obv) and in that tiny time frame, E3 changed a LOT, not so much to the outside viewer, but for the people on the inside, and how everything is structured. Now days, say the last 3 E3's have been nothing like E3 from days gone by, at all. It's become more about numbers than anything, really. GDC is easily doing things NOW what E3 did THEN, so a lot ofdevs are using this as a means to showcase things they'd otherwise show at E3, and leave numbers and other nonsensical shit to E3. Shame, really.

Just further strengthens my point lol...

like I love MGS... but what really is the need for a gameplay trailer? Guess what, Kojima is making an MGS game... oh shit, ground breaking news and shit, its gona be like an evolution of his older MGS games... like they all are... ground breaking... oh but you can't play it for another year, sorry.

Fuck that, I'd rather know what Kojima's goals are with game development in his upcoming games and previous games. Or how he is building FOX engine etc etc etc

For me (an outside viewer) E3 is all about the press conferences (mainly Nintendo and Sony), and they are always fun to watch.

Story trailer would be welcome too! Maybe he extended his GDC talk to be able to show some GZ in addition to the 60 min engine talk he had planned. In that case it wouldn't take away from it anyway.

I just wish GDC could be like TED, for gaming... rather than E3 and a PR nightmare cluster-fuck

I have no idea why you're overreacting to that statement, I said I don't care about the ultra intricate details of the engine, I am not gonna develop games on the engine so I don't need to know be shown an intricate demonstration of the engine

I still very much appreciate things like these but as I said "ultra intricate" details aren't really a huge interest of mine, in that case I'd much rather we see a live demonstration running GZ where he talks about how the AI can respond to the player, or how the lighting works displaying the day/night cycle
