I hope this has amazing bosses again. The B&Bs were a bit letdown.

Maybe, 2013 is also when the next gen consoles are supposedly coming out, but of course there will be an overlap.

I thought the boss fights were fine, but they weren't really interesting characters. Something like the FOXHOUND unit in MGS1 would be great.

This looks really, really promising. I almost can't believe it.

I really hope this isn't another MGS4 Trailer 1 type scenario, now I'm not bashing the game, but I think we can all agree that the first trailer gave off an impression of a much more atmospheric and cinematic experience

That said, this has a better start, here we have gameplay showing this world in motion and it seems really promising... the fucking atmosphere man, DAT RAIN
what do you mean?? The FPS/MGS trailer? I though the game fully reaslised that idea and goal :/
I meant the one that started out as the fps thing, yeah. Showing Snake taking cover inside some ruins, with a single bullet left in his gun, watching over a huge enemy patrol walking past him, was really atmospheric

But I don't wanna get into bashing mgs4, feels like I do that too often. I'm just hoping that from an atmosphere perspective that this game lives up to this first trailer, I feel like MGS4 lost the charm in atmosphere that the first 3 games had
I don't agree with that at all, but I loved MGS4.

Have to say though, the animation and movemenet in that trailer and the sneaky cam video, looks fucking amazing, and it looks like a 'current gen' Peace Walker (the game I've wanted since PW was annouced) so I'm so fucking excited for this.

Can't wait to see more of this game and see what it turns into and how Kojima is able to use the open world mechanic to his advantage and not do a Crytek and simply use it as a place to tell a very narrow story going from linear point to linear point.

Also given that tweet and interview from the guy who helped direct some of the stuff for this, I think its a pretty safe bet to say this is going to be a Christmas Holiday 2013 title maybe early 2014 depending on how progress is on the PS4 and new Xbox

But this looks like the development is at a further stage, and the engine is finished now. So I think this is pretty close to what the actual game will be like.
Yeah, as I was saying, this is looking very promising.

Being hyped as fuck for Metal Gear, this is almost an ancient feeling for me.. last was the countdown leading up to the Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker announcement that flashed the image of Big Boss

oh, also. I know I'm late

But this is without a doubt a multiplatform title, even if there isn't any official word on it at this moment, Kojima basically made the Fox engine for that purpose, there's no way in shit the first game he releases on this engine that he created for multiplatform reasons is gonna be an exclusive to ps3

at best it'll be timed

I've been thinking, if the engine is done already and they can simply scale it up (or down) depending on the generation of hardware they are working on... could they realistically combine the plots of MG1 and 2 into a single title?

Becasue after MG1 and 2, what else is there in the Solid timeline thats blank? Is it just raidens story post MGS2? Could that be MGS5?
Kojima has said he isn't very interested in re-making the MG titles.... and a Raiden focused MGS title would showcase more of what FOX can do...

There were Xbox logos at the end of the trailer, so it's multiplatform.

I think they could combine them into one game, yes. Don't know how that would work, but it would be interesting, kind of like MGS2 with the Tanker and Plant chapters.

Kojima has say that this is a prologue to MGS5 and has stated that he is working on two FOX engine titles, one for current gen systems and one for next gen systems.
It's not confirmed like I said, but stands to good reason that'll probally be the case. Konami will want there only real franchise thats worth anything thats not football to be a lead title for them in the next generation of hardware.

Really hope they do a PC version, or spend alot of time on optimisation. So many new console titles and big ones have come out in recent memory and have had garbage frame-rates on consoles, sup mass effect.

Something I saw someone on Neogaf mention, was that Snake's aged by quite a bit, but it seems to give the impression that the game is set pretty closely after PW.. I'm guessing the gray hair is a bit of a retcon

not really a big deal or anything, but something to note

Yeah.

To be completely honest, I'm somewhat worried the game won't have bosses at all, that Hideo might follow the western ways of video games.. That would be such a shame, series has such a great track record of boss battles and while B&B's were a disappointment by MGS standards, they were still bosses and that alone is a really fun thing to have in games, so hopefully we'll have them back here

Seems like a waste to have a badass skinless bad guy in it if you're not gonna fight the guy

I'd say it's set years after PW. I'm sure I read somewhere that it's set in the mid-late 80's.
