So....hyped...Also, lolIGN. Seriously, someone got paid to write that. A true travesty for the ages. But anyways, I'm seeing some people mentioning GENE possibly being the burned man? Kind of an interesting idea but I'm not really sure. I hope that it may be a whole new villain.

I higly doubt it will have auto-regen health.I don't see it going this way after so many years of rations.
Plus , it's an open world , it nullifies a part of the exploration if you can't look for supplies like food and all.

After all I dunno , since it looks so different from previous games , but I like the Idea of no HUD.It makes sense since it's an older tech , and eventhough I loved MGS4 HUD , it was loaded with stuff and felt unrealistic , here , you're hopefully a lonewolf that can only trust his own senses or something similar.
Holographic like HUD could be cool too , with display on will.

So much to say about a 15 minutes vid , that's pure MGS!

I think GZ will have a stamina system like MGS3, that way the rations could still be in the game, just no hud bar to represent the stamina. Instead you hear Snake's stomach growl, his hands shake while aiming, and maybe Snake won't walk as fast, then you know its time for a ration.

I doubt MGS would do this, if anything it'd handle the backpack in the same way Resident Evil handles the brief case. I doubt they'd switch to anything like Uncharted. Especially since it's obvious that this is a stealth-oriented MGS through and through.

Thing is though, GZ is doing things very differently. 5 years ago if you told a fan there would be an MGS game were you could drive a vehicle, they would've said you were crazy. But here we are.

GZ is an open world multiplatform game, its completely different from any other MGS game by that sentence alone. And while GZ is a stealth game, just like MGS4 & PW, you'll likely be able to Run 'n Gun through the whole thing.

KP is marketing toward a bigger base with GZ, and there is no doubt in my mind that KP will adopt just about every modern gameplay mechanic to attract newcomers.

It's MGS no doubt, but it's MGS for a new generation.

To be quite honest, sure you CAN run and gun through MGS4 (Peace Walker not so much). But those games are in no way shooters, they just add depth to the experience by offering another play-style. Can I drive jeeps in this game? Sure. This is a series where I was driving a frickin' nuke-shooting mech the last time around. These games have always offered a solid (pardon the pun) variety of ways to tackle your objectives. I think rather than conforming to more mainstream-shooter ways, this is simply MGS' evolution in gritty, realistic stealth action.

Really? i found PW much easier to Run 'n Gun through than MGS4.

But anyway, little by little the series has conformed to modern shooter standards. With MGS4 they introduced the Over the shoulder camera, and the ability to walk while aiming in FP mode. And with PW we were limited to two weapons. All of these are staples of either FPS or TPS games. So nothing is out of the question. Time will tell i guess.

Someone in a different tread told me they wouldn't do away with vanishing weapons, but they did. A person can gauge a lot from very little. Nothing is set in stone. but as i said, nothing is out of the question

As for piloting Rex. Fans for years have been asking to pilot a Metal Gear, so that didn't come as a big shock. But to my knowledge, no one has ever asked to drive a jeep.

To my original point. A developer (especially japanese) won't hesitate to alter their franchise if they think it will sell more, even if that means pissing off some old fans (just ask Resident Evil and final fantasy fans.)

the trailer to me felt like peace walker. like you have that survival style of mgs3 but the sneaking of mgs peace walker. i think this will be a very big and ambitious mgs game to ever be released. i think we are going to see something thats completely new to the franchise. i truly think this is going to form a masterpiece even if its a prologue.

P.S i want the version of heres to you they used in that trailer it was way better than the one in mgs4.

games change with times and i feel they are adding a lot for the newcomers and a lot for the old school fan base. to me this mgs game is going to please old school fans while welcoming newcomers. i dont feel like this game will be all run and gun. i mean it might be capable of it but i think it will have a lot where you will find yourself actively choosing to sneak rather than shoot.

No doubt, most people will prefer sneaking over shooting, but the controls and weapons & items navigation will be much more streamlined, so that people who choose to play through it Running 'n Gunning can do so with ease.
This also streamlines the stealth aspect of the game too when you really think about it.

I do really believe Kp will opt for a self regenerating health system this time. The health bar in 3, 4, & PW would actually restore itself if you lay flat for a few seconds. And every game these days has it, plus it's one less thing the player has to monitor.

For the record, i don't think Kojima is anything like Capcom or Square Enix, but he does run his own company and is VP of konami. His games have to sell, and he has to find ways of making them sale.

A little off topic. I wonder why Snake has a FOX logo on his suit. At the end of Portable Ops he took command of FOX and changed the name to FOXHOUND (if i'm not mistaken). Could MPO no longer be canon?

well Big Boss had a FOX logo in peace walker as well so it could just be there for the same reason he had it in Peace Walker.

Oh yeah, he did didn't he? lol.

I still question if MPO is canon though.
I was thinking about that micro film that Gene gave to Snake at the end of MPO, it was the funds that would supposedly provide for the creation of Outer Heaven. Yet in PW, Snake and Miller seem pretty strapped for cash.

And Snake in PW acts as though he's never seen a Metal Gear before even though he took on RAXA in MPO.
Although imo, none of those Metal Gears or AI weapons should have been in those games because it takes away from the TX-55 being the ultimate weapon in MG1. Peace Walker specifically is way to advance for that time period. The TX-55 is hailed as a revolutionary weapon in MG1, but the AI weapons, pw, and RAXA are far more revolutionary.

Another point. If Zero knew of MSF/Outer Heaven (which he does, according to PW), why would he allow BB to return to America and take control of FOXHOUND? Hopefully GZ fixes this.

Big Boss might have gained control of FOXHOUND in a hostile kind of way i can see if he wanted to but couldnt then him over throwing it and taking FOXHOUND back. or it might be explained in this new mgs game. seeing how in mg 1 and 2 solid snake took down big boss zero could have some how manipulated solid snake into killing big boss and thus ending foxhound till liquid came in. also remember in the end of peace walker if you got the extra tape it revealed that

Here is what we know from MGS4, in Act 3 Eva said
"Big Boss returned to the U.S with a plan in mind, and once again assumed control of FOXHOUND. In Outer heaven, and then zanzibar land, Big Boss plotted coup de ta against zero"

So we learn here that Big Boss is working as sort of a double agent. And we know he is Snake's commanding officer during Operation Intrude N313.

But FOXHOUND is stationed in the U.S (both of which Zero controls), If Zero knows of MSF/Outer Heaven. why would he allow Big Boss to return to FOXHOUND? The U.S (Zero) called on FOXHOUND to resolve the Outer heaven situation, so the taking it by force explanation doesn't work because Zero isn't going to ask his enemy for help (not to mention that he knows BB IS Outer heaven)

The story only works if Zero doesn't know of BB's plans, and in PW he clearly does. The ending conversation you mentioned only makes this inconsistency more apparent because Kaz mentions the site they plan to use for the Outer heaven base.

Oh my... that trailer looked absolutely phenomenal, Fox Engine is up there with the best engines.
It's only augmented by Kojima's attention to detail and screenplay, that man is genius.

Is this Project Ogre? I think it is, because Kojima said Project Ogre was open world didn't he? that goes in line with what MGS:GZ has demonstrated.

Last I heard this isn't Ogre.

If anyone has the link to the full PAX panel, please post it here! Also, I can't get to the US IGN site anymore, it redirects me to a Dutch version. :/

I honestly don't think KP is capable of doing 3 massive projects at the same time (MGS:GZ, Project Enders, Project Ogre)

It's highly likely that GZ is Ogre.

From 10:10 to 10:16 impressed me, how the two animations transitioned into one another.

if this is only the first 15 minutes of the game we are in for a hell of a ride

what intrigues me the most at this point is why did that kid have the headphones plugged into his chest

he has to be obviously a robot or cyborg or have some mech technology implanted in him
