Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. It could be, since the Fox Engine is multiplatform.

Q: I have a question specifically about Metal Gear, all through the Metal Gear games you can see the progression toward the open world environment - obviously Snake Eater and then Metal Gear Solid 4 - and now they are Ground Zeroes. My question is, is the open world Metal Gear your ultimate version of Metal Gear or are you planning to go even further than that?

Hideo Kojima: First of all if you give somebody a mission, and say your mission is to go and rescue this person, already you create some drama there. However if you take that a step further and say give the person the power to decide how they get there, what time they arrive, what kind of path they use to sneak into the base then it creates even more drama and gives them more freedom. So it's not so much that I've been aiming to create an open world game so much as I just want to give players the freedom to do things in a way that feels natural to them.

Up until this point, if you had a hundred people and you made them play a game, they'd all basically arrive at the same time, take the same route, use the same equipment to get the job done. But what I want to do from this point on is give people the freedom, so if you have a hundred people and you give them this mission then they'll all come back with a hundred different stories.

They may arrive at a different time, use a different route to get into the base, use different weapons and equipment. So rather than having one great, dramatic story you have a hundred. That's really what I want to accomplish. So it's not necessarily that I'm aiming for open world, that's not the [be all and] end all, what I want to do is give people the freedom to create their own stories and create something that's very personal to them. That's what I want to accomplish.

Good shit

Good link Cartman. That's badass how he's approaching this game. That just brightened my day.

Y'know what'd be very interesting now that we have these news about a 24H cycle, imagine if you can use this to your advantage, say you wanna sneak in at night during a rain storm, you'll be less visible in the dark, but since it's night there will be more guards patrolling certain areas and stuff

They could do a lot of interesting stuff with this, it'd be great if weather/time had an impact on the game itself outside of just the visual style changing.. I mean it would mean replay value would be fucking great, imagine if your goal is something similar to that of getting into Grozny Grad and stealing Raikov's outfit, now say in Ground Zeroes I have the advantage of simply waiting till night, now since it's night I'm gonna have a harder time getting inside that specific building, but once I'm there, nobody's gonna be working that late at night, they'll either be doing something different or off sleeping, so I could freely walk around and just steal his uniform from his locker

of course this is just an example, but it would be really interesting if things like these changed with time, giving the player even more choice in how they approach the mission

Pretty much. The game was at its finest when you were just sucking up the atmosphere. No infinite supply of default-hostile dudes everywhere.

I kinda liked the malaria effect. Never came at the wrong time for me, so it was a nice addon. The healing system was good too.

different ways and pace to accomplish a mission sounds awesome, that's basically what I liked the most about MGS4, that even tho you have clear path to follow you can take different decisions on how you want to accomplish this (specially in act 2), ever since MGS4 was released I felt Kojima was disappointed the game couldn't be more open (which is why some things from the game had to be discarded and the game compressed in the end) and that is why he said the PS3 wasn't perfect or something like that, I can't even remember

the point I'm trying to make is he was aiming for this since back then, but he was limited by the software they had, the fox engine seems to give Kojima and his team the freedom they need to try to accomplish what they were aiming for on MGS4, which couldn't be better news for us

I'll believe it when I see it. Retailers often use placeholder release dates.

Definitely Ocelot. Maybe an appearance by Frank Jaeger (Gray Fox)? I'm also curious to see if they implement EVA into this game, somehow, maybe. Who knows.
I have a feeling we will be seeing all of the original founders of the Patriots. I feel like Ocelot, Zero, Para, and Sig will all be in the game somehow.

im not sure on para and sigint because i dont think they have much tension with Big Boss but Zero has tension so i think it would be logical for Zero to be in it and ocelot and maybe eva

He confirms here how the open world works, not sure if he had done this already. But it's just as me and Nyxus had predicted, it's not one big seamless world but you have things like the raining camp we saw in the trailer be 1 entirely open space and then the heli will take you to another level that works the same
