I doubt it. They already have been developing it on the current gen consoles, and they can scale it up for next gen. This gen has a large userbase already. Unless Sony would have paid for timed exclusivity or something.

Yeah I don't think it would happen, but if I was at Sony, I would want it to happen... whats the best way to kick off the launch of a brand new bit of hardware, given that the last home console Sony shipped had a horrible launch that hindered it though out its entire generation.... If they could grab a timed exclusive deal from Konami that would be huge HUGE... and still have it come out for current systems...

Sony need something for the launch of there new system, Killzone, infamous and some fettish driving game arn't going to push sales towards new hardware when GTA5 is coming for ps3/360 around the supposed launch... if they had a Metal Gear Solid game, that would drive sales.
Look at how well MGS4 sold on PS3 when it came out, it did insane given how tiny the PS3 user base was compared to MS's.

I agree, if Sony could have this as a timed exclusive for their launch window, that would be huge, and a great way to start their system. Especially if it's a notably enhanced version.

It wouldn't really matter about that I don't think... if the PS4 version simply ran at 60fps solid (over the current gen systems that didn't) it would be THE version of the game, and with DLC they could give it on the PS4 over the PS3/360...

With AC4 Black Flags they mentioned big visual differences between current and next gen versions. Don't know what it would entail exactly, but yeah.

Also, if you look at the Rising sales you can see it selling a lot more on PS3, so it still seems Metal Gear is mainly a PlayStation associated series (not that surprising).

Also, if you think about when MGS:GZ's is probally going to launch, its not going to be this year, it just isn't. And for a game to come out mid/late next year months after the launch of the next gen systems... how well would that sell?

Even really good games that come at the end of the generation after the launch of next gen systems will suffer as people save up and move to the next gen systems (sup Okami).
Just makes little sense to me for them to focus on a version of the game that will be less impressive and increasingly less relevant... plus the supposid Vita/PP stories that are popping up and how the PS3 and PS4 interact with the Vita is seemingly very diffrent with the PS4 offering so much more than the PS3.

It just makes so much sence for some sort of timed exclusive or something....

I expect it to be at least announced for the next gens as well, might even happen this month at GDC. I also think Ground Zeroes will release in 2014, they already released a Metal Gear game this year and they probably want to spread it out.

The thing that gets me is we all love Big Boss, right? We've played as him in FOUR games (except Cartman, lol..... hahaha) and he isn't a bad guy at all, in fact he's the definition of a Hero. But in MG1 and MG2, he's a complete sack of shit... so Kojima is gonna have to do something, at some point, to make us hate Big Boss and turn him into the villain he is, but I don't see him doing that, tbh. It's like the original vision of Big Boss is lost on Kojima.

So this whole ''Kojima is going to push taboo subjects'' shit bette deal with Jack doing some fucked up shit, or else we may as well consider MG1 and MG2 to be non-canon/retconned.

:/

at the end of PW, he's not exactally a hero... and you have to bear in mind that in the MGS series the Americans/FOX arnt really portraid as the 'good guys' just the peopel giving the orders to Snake (you).

Eh, the ending of PW is *shakes hand side to side* to me.

Jack is still very much likable, and still very much a Hero in contrast to the monster he is in MG1 and MG2.

I never played the original Metal Gear games but I can't say too much about that. I wouldn't mind if they made Big Boss a little darker, but I also wouldn't mind if they retconned his version from the first games a little. The character just changed from someone who is more or less pure evil to someone who is bittered by what happened in life, and has more or less his own morals which may not be the same as the general public. I think a more complex character is more interesting than just a crazed lunatic, so if they have to change it for the sake of that, I'm okay with that.

I also think they deviated from Big Boss being just 'evil and crazy' since MGS1, where Naomi and Wolf talk about him as their hero and savior, full of respect.

to me, it would be more interesting if Big Boss was always the hero and FOX was the enemy... would make the whole story more interesting imo

@ Scotia: He does kind of declare war against the world, or at least anyone who tries to oppose him (as a means of survival). And since he has a nuke now, he has become a considerable threat to the world powers (as is said in the GZ trailer as well).

@ baldgye: But 'hero' and 'villain' are also relative terms, which is the series standpoint as well (The Boss explains this pretty well). It's just different sides opposing each other, and each side also does things which are 'less commendable'.

I just know Kojima needs to pull something from his ass in GZ to bring Jack to his roots or just keep his ass the way he's been.

Yes, that's one of the things that make MGS so interesting to me, there are very few truly evil characters (maybe Volgin and Coldman, but even they thought they were doing the right thing in their own twisted way).
