Portable Ops is no longer Canon; The newest Kojima-endorced timeline says so.

Hi, I know this might come under fire, but I'd like to inform you all (and hopefully get this into a news story).

METAL GEAR 25th ANNIVERSARY 「

Expose the "truth of Metal Gear Solid" METAL GEAR 25th ANNIVERSARY!

7 authentic biography details the work called "METAL GEAR SAGA" to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the birth of Metal Gear.
Metal Gear fans nostalgic for the core, for beginners and is a fan site where you can learn more about the history of the Metal Gear series.

There are only 7 canonical games, now. MG1,2,S1,2,3,4,PW. Portable Ops has been purged from the canonical timeline.
My proof that these are the games they've intended?

If you run the new website created for the 25th anniversery through a translator, you'll find that there's no mention of anything regarding or relating to MPO. It also numbers the games in order of their Real-Life release dates. It notes that MGS3 is the fifth release, and MGS4 is the sixth release.

How can you check this for yourself?
Go to http://www.konami.jp/mg25th/truth/ and press CTRL+F and paste this string of japanese characters in: 『メタルギア』シリーズ正史の発売順としては
Immediately after these characters you will see a number. You can run these sentences through a translator as you please, it even uses the japanese terming for Canonical (正史, Authentic History).

Please keep in mind this is on an official update of the official website's blog, advertised on the Kojima Productions Japanese homepage. Further searching online suggests that Japanese fans have found this to be enough proof to start declaring that MPO is out of the Authentic History.
I stress that this timeline is created for the express purpose of disclosing the primary timeline, and goes so far as to call these games, specifically "Authentic History" whilst listing them, and specifically omitting Portable Ops. It's not even in the "The Chronical" section of the timeline, where it lists minute events in the story and real life parallels.

Thank you for your time.

Hm. Well, there was some elements in the plot I didn't appreciate, but it's still a shame to see some decent characters go. Elisa/Ursula, Gene, young Roy Campbell, I liked those characters. Null was cool too, but I felt they went a bit overboard with him, as Gray Fox would go through shit later in his life too.

I agree. This is odd. Considering the fact that it's canon within the MGS4 database.

yea but twin snakes told the same story as the original mgs1 so it makes sense so i dont see why people would consider twin snakes not canon when the story is 100% the same as the original.

All the relevant parts are canon at least. Stuff like the stinger jump are something everyone just agrees never happened. Think of Twin Snakes as a tale told to you by an overly drunk Johnny.

yea but those stunts arent really relevant to the story it was just a style kojima chose for twin snakes. silicon knights originally wanted to keep the cutscenes intact but kojima wanted to have a different cutscene style. but i dont usually associate stunts with story its not like snake jumping off a missile is some big plot point.

You're right. Twin Snakes is still completely canon, it has the exact same story as MGS1...because it's a remake. Yes, the stunts that happened in it are definitely different, but that doesn't affect the timeline in anyway.

As people said, that is strange because PO is used/mentioned in both MGS4 and PW.

Which is why I call it a drunk man's version of MGS1. True story, but exaggerated.
