Oh damn, that slipped my mind as well. I knew we could go back to Camp Omega for already owning GZ. I just forgot about them saying that there was this big surprise they have lined up for it. Something that "can only be done in video games." I'm so pumped.

The saga that is the deteriorating relationship between Konami and Hideo Kojima continues as the publisher has decided to remove all references to the Metal Gear Solid creator from the box art for The Phantom Pain.

The latest pack shots were uploaded yesterday, and NeoGAF users spotted a couple of changes appear to have been made. You can see the old box art below on the left, with the new one on the right. In the bottom left of each cover the Kojima Productions logo has been removed, while "A Hideo Kojima Game" is also absent from just below the console masthead.

Getting rid of the Kojima logo is one thing, but getting rid of the "a Hideo Kojima game" game, that's just fucking petty. The guy still created the game... and the entire fucking series. Show a little respect.

Japanese culture

I hear so much in all different areas that it is to be respected and it's just different to the west. In every instance I've come across it (relating to employment and business), it only ever comes across as childish and insular.

I'm sure there will be fan covers made, one's that also don't look like total shit.
for example;

If they want to take his name off MGSV, so be it. The part that really gets to me is the fact that they took "A Hideo Kojima Game" off of The Legacy Collection. I find that to be incredibly childish. All of those games were released way before any of this drama had occurred.

I really want to know what happened. The animosity towards Kojima is insane.

I would change the cover art myself but I already pre-ordered the steelbook version from Amazon France.

Right, b/c MGS has always been grounded in reality...
No, but this is really out there.

Son, don't act like I'm trying to say, after all these years, MGS is realistic. Fuck out of here with that Manchester attitude.
if it bothers you so much then dont use it. its not like the game will force you to use it.
No shit. Doesn't mean it's not stupid as hell even for MGS.

And I guarantee the game will make you use it at some point.
I doubt it and how is it stupid as hell when it's not even the most nonsensical thing we've seen in the entire MGS series in terms of story and gameplay?
I know there are tons of dumb things in MGS, but I've already explained why it's dumb.

Mfw being attacked for disliking something in a series I was playing when some of you weren't even in diapers.

:p

Y'ALL JUST GOTTA DEAL WITH IT
This is on the same level as the theory that Cartman has a brain.
so kojima saying the game allows you to play it however you want was a lie then if it will force you to play it in a certain way.....
my tumblr comic.
if you want to add me on PSN or XBL PM me bro.

I'd say just let it go. I think it's a cool feature and very very silly one at that. Will I use the Rocket Arm? Probably not, but it's a cool feeling to know that's an option for the fuck of it. I will agree with Scotia that it is pretty left field, even for MGS, but I still love it. Although, Zadornov had the Rocket Peace with his hand in Peace Walker.

Scotia just doesn't like it and as he said, Y'ALL JUST GOTTA DEAL WITH IT, and that's that. It's how he feels about it, nothing you or I can say that will change his mind. I think it's great that Kojima wants us to have all these wacky features like Quiet shooting grenades for us to a certain position, the rocket punch, balloon decoys, sonar detector (with the sound effect from the six million dollar man), etc.

Kojima's inner child is truly showing in this game and I'm okay with that. I can imagine the discussion for these ideas in the game. Wouldn't it be ridiculous for Snake to have a remote controlled-missle arm? Yeah, fuck it though, just do it.

IMO, I just like having the option. His imagination is running wild within TPP.

Let opinions be opinions. No one is being "that guy".

I really want to know as well. It's why I'm so excited for September 1st. We get TPP, and Kojima & his team will be able to finally speak up about what the hell went down between them and Konami.
For fucks sake, Konami won't let journalists even mention Kojima's name in interviews or else they'll cancel it or cut it off.

I understand that gambling is about to be legalized in Japan, and that's where the money is going to be in that country. We'll be seeing Castlevania, MGS, etc themed slot machines and whatnot. There's just no possible fucking way that the gambling market in Japan would make more revenue for Konami than the Silent Hill, Castlevania (an actual Castlevania title) franchises. They could still invest in the upcoming gambling market, but what they're doing is just plain idiotic.

No, no that's not actually true at all. Thanks to decades of them fucking up Silent Hill and every other franchise bar MGS they bring in very little revenue. Hell the only games they make money on are MGS and ProEvo. FIFA dominates football and MGS takes hundreds of millions and years to make. Creating a slot machine or a casino will cost less, be up and running quicker and have much higher revenue streams than a single product like MGS. If this wasn't the case Vegas wouldn't exist in the way it exists now.

I imagine Konami will sell the rights to make MGS games to other studios for a lot of money and publish it themselfs, so the risk to them is tiny and the rewards are massive, Rising 2 being an obvious example along with maybe a remake of MGS, due to the tiny amount of thinking involved in a project like that.

But yeah, gambling is a much more lucrative world that video games if your Konami.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Didn't think of it that way. With gambling getting legalized, people are going to be playing the slot machines and etc like crazy. The amount of money they'll make is just stupid. Maybe with the revenue they'll make from the gambling market, they could reinvent themselves when it comes to video games again? That's more than likely not going to happen.

I just think they poorly executed this whole transition they're going under. But, you're right, the casinos will definitely be more profitable. At the same time, they shot themselves in the foot. If they had never fucked over Team Silent, the Castlevania series and now Kojima (who could've made other games like Silent Hills and new IPs), they could make money from all those series and still invest in the gambling market.

I'm being overly optimistic I guess.

Yeah they totally fucked the whole thing up, if they had been intelligent and diligent they could have a multi-million dollar video game wing to there company that comprised of three huge game series and a popular football game. Instead all they have is a popular football game, but nothing close to the most successful and MGS, a franchises they have effectively killed by ousting Kojima.

But Japanese companies don't work on the basis of good business practice or logic and reason.
