I totally misread your post and didn't see the word 'whale' hence why I was confused. Yeah I hope it is still in the final game too... though to be honest other than the OG trailer and the initial gameplay stuff we haven't see much of anything of the opening of the game, how Miller is captured etc or even where the hospital is and who runs it. |

Yeah, a lot of people are speculating none of it will be in the game, and the intro and or prologue will be told via cutscenes that are new, etc. :/ I kinda hope that isn't the case. |

Also, to elaborate why I am sure Eli is Liquid; Eli is almost always shorthanded for ''Eliab''. (Elias is a different story) Eliab is the name of a figure in the Bible and was the eldest of 8 sons. He had a brother named David, who would go on later in life to become the King of Jerusalem (this is important). David, as we know, is Solid's civilian name and was cloned in the Les Enfants Terribles program which uses 8 fertilized eggs. All but two of those eggs were aborted; Liquid (Eliab) and Solid (David). David would also go on to become the superior soldier (much like David became the King of Jerusalem). Also, due to locations, Liquid was in the Middle East most of his life. So, Eliab and David are the sons of a God, born from a litter of 8. Liquid and Solid are also mirrors in the line of 8 sons and 8 eggs, cloned from a ''God'' (Big Boss; a super soldier). Was it the theory that ''V'' represents a split in the timeline; i.e. alternates? I read one like that on Reddit, as well. Edited by Hoss, Aug 18 2015, 01:31 PM.

Kojima has said that the hospital scene is the tutorial on how to play the game, so I can't see it being cut. It also works a lot better as a narrative if you play it out rather than a cut scene because you will feel more helpless, rather than watching someone being helpless (which ties into the idea of BB being a bigger representation of the player than previous games, as stated by Kojima). It was also demoed as playable, for whatever that counts for. On top of that Kojima has tweeted that from feedback from GZ's they have worked on the gameplay and changed it some what so that it feels and controls better, something that kinda require a tutorial section which is what the hospital scene was designed to be originally.
