Yeah, but the backlash to David not voicing Snake has been pretty big in the west as well.

So wait, is the Japanese version going to be the worse now? Because kiefer does both the voicing and mocap.. So wil his mocap be matched with a jap voice?? That sounds pretty bad...

A lot of it has to do with honour and respect, Japan is a very different culture from almost anyone else's. They accept change, but also have no problems showing their distaste for it, unlike most other cultures that just cry about it before knowing anything or otherwise.

They more or less get upset at the decision to find someone new, not so much to change in general.

I see. By the way, I wonder what will happen to the other characters, if they will be voiced by their original VAs. It did sound like Miller is still being voiced by Robin Atkin Downes.

Yeah, I'm really excited to see what he can do with this tech... I also like the fact that he dsnt pretend to be a gamer for the sake of PR.

Have to say though, watching it again, some of the tech demo's in that segment really don't look like things you can do on current hardware.
The frame-rate, the lighting, the animations and the lack of any real jaggies or straight lines on characters faces... Really can't wait to see what they have planned for e3 and I'm beginning to think that GZ's will be like GT5 Prologue, bar the massive time gap in between... so that people who didn't play PW (of which there is a fair number it seems) can get caught up to what is going on and then how that leads up to MGSV...

Yeah, I am really excited to see what he does with what is given to him, and how he brings his own thing to the table for Big Boss. And yeah, I always dig when an actor is honest, when they are brought into a game, and don't sugarcoat things and play it up like they are into games. Props to him for being himself.

Was also interesting what Kojima said, now that the tech is good enough, instead of trying to model realistic looking faces, they can just scan in real people... and then animate those with performance capture... so would that mean that DH can't be Snake again?
The voice has to match the acting, and the English speaking audience is bigger than the Japanese one (assuming that's the reason they are doing this only for the English speaking version)... so... is Snake, finally actually becoming James Bond, where every movie game he is acted by a different person?

I am quite happy about the work being put into subtle facial animations and all that

The most impressive shot I've seen so far of the game is Big Boss in the helicopter, all dat emotion, good to hear that this is a big focus with the game this time around

Looking forward to the trailer, sounds like we might see it at e3 since he's apparently made posters for the game and shit there

Still don't think it's a great idea to replace one iconic voice with another iconic one, but I'm sure Kiefer will do a good job, can't wait to see the trailer and hear him do the voice in action
