Since supposely these next gen consoles are some what Pc's can't they add mods?
I mean Unreal Tournament 3 had mods on PS3, what makes PC gaming so relavent now a days? Better graphics?

Kojima said MGSV will look better than the E3 trailer, I haven't seen anything on PC that good and they are still calling these next gen consoles PC's from 2007.

Can someone clarify this for me?
Crysis 3 blows MGSV's visuals out of the water. If we're gonna go on ''Things on PC looking that good.''

Unreal's mods on PS3 weren't too popular, either.

Yeah, but not in the same sense as PC. You couldn't make them, you could only download them. And the amount of mods on PS3 wasn't nearly as large as PC, since no one bothered to cook them for PS3.

It's an adaptive engine... but it still has to be adapted... and this game has no date and no console version of the game (be it 360 or xbone) has been shown... even if it's a 2014 game (which it will be) I can't see;

1. the PS3/360 version looking anything close to that
2. the next gen version looking much better
It has been adapted though, they haven't been working for years on doing zero optimizations for PS3/360, it's pretty clear that these two platforms would be given priority given the time of when development started, what is more interesting to Konami, systems with a combined user install base of 140 million, or next gen systems that haven't even been announced?

And yes, the game does look too good for PS3/360, I don't expect the visuals from that trailer to be in the final game, far off distance shit looks way too sharp and from what I can tell I haven't seen many jaggies either, but these are simple things to improve for a trailer, turn blur off, turn AA on.

They would no doubt want to show it, if they had. If anything, just to say ''Hey, look what we can make the PS3 do.''

They might have it running, but it's most likely not running that well.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has explained that The Phantom Pain will be less like films than previous games, and more like a television show.

"I'm sure you're worried about if the cutscenes are as long as Metal Gear Solid 4," Kojima said during an E3 roundtable. "Since this time around we're using an open world environment," Metal Gear Solid V will have "less cutscenes [than before]." Because you'll be exploring, you'll have fewer opportunities to run into a cutscene that takes control away.

"If you think of Metal Gear Solids 1-4 as movies," Kojima continued, "[The Phantom Pain] is going to be like a TV series with episodes." Each episode breaks down into a non-linear missions with that eventually "come together to complete the story we have designed."

Ground Zeroes perhaps best represents this idea. "Phantom Pain is the big game, and included in that is the prologue, Ground Zeroes," Kojima said.

Is this a good step for the Metal Gear franchise? Let us know in the comments below.

I hate to compare these two games but from what I just read there it seems Metal gear solid V will be like "oh God here it comes" Saints Row 2, in which you can attack the story how you want and still end up with the same result. Boss battles might just be selectable or missions( not all of them ).

Kojima has been watching the Walking Dead(Series), is that a direction he might go? Maybe skipping things, series don't always start you off in the same place as the last episode. Metal Gear Solid has been straight on, you knew where you were headed(like a movie the characters are going straight to the story). Series you build the story and try to guess what happen before they got from A to B.

Did I lose any of you?

I think Kojima always wanted to make an open-world game since MGS3.

I remember interviews with him when he was making MGS3 stating that in the future he would like to make a game where you could land your parachute in any part of the map, maybe close to a boss instead to have to fight your way through (i know it sounds crazy, but i remember he saying something like that).

Then when he started working with PS3 and making MGS4, he said that PS3 was able to do wonderful things, but later when the game was almost ready he said he couldn't create maps as big as he wanted (blaming the PS3 horsepower). But i thought the maps in the second chapter of MGS4 were big enough for you to have some freedom in which way you want to go, but ultimately getting in the same objective (that mansion).

E3 INTERVIEW: KOJIMA ON MGS 5

Is open-world something you always wanted to do? Were you limited by the console hardware?

It's not necessarily about the hardware - GTA was able to do it on PS2. The first reason why I wanted to go open-world is because I wanted to create a world that had a lot of freedom and allowed users to create their own gameplay.

We're developing alongside the Fox Engine and we wanted to make sure that we were doing the most difficult and challenging thing, which is open-world. We want to create a standard for our team and then later on once we finish developing MGSV on Fox Engine we can use it for other games within Konami and it will get better and better graphically.

The other reason for the game going open-world is that we wanted to use multiple devices for this game. So using tablets and smart phones you can also enjoy MGSV and create user-generated missions within the world. That's another reason we had to go open-world - if it was linear we wouldn't be able to do that.

create user-generated missions that sounds interesting ^^

Debut @VGA world premier teaser followed by tech presentation @GDC, trailer and actual game presentation @E3, online mode beta test in summer, exhibiting @Gamescom, game play available in multiple occasion in fall, and release yr end. This is the trend of game promotion in western market.

I hope he's following the western marketing trends of game promotion. it would be nice to be able to play some MGS before the years out, or at least a demo.

Not sure how well it'd do them financially to have Ground Zeroes be a downloadable game only, but if they'd release GZ as a standalone at the end of this year for like 9.99 then I'd be all over that shit

Feels like TPP is quite far off, of course I could be completely wrong but who knows if they're even ready for a 2014 release, they've said absolutely nothing about a date yet, and if it really is that far off I'm fucking all over getting the prologue early, if it's however only a couple of months in-between it'll feel a little cheap of them though

in that CVG interview Kojima says they've still not decided how Ground Zeroes will be distributed so I guess anything is possible

I guess the only problem for them would be that TPP will without a doubt sell better than a download only title would and then loads of people would be missing the prologue of the story
