And to be fair, those releases were all from before the online multiplayer boom of last gen. Things have changed since. You pretty much can't do a multiplatform title sans MP in November anymore. Nintendo can do Zelda and Mario, for example, because those are exclusives to their platform, and their games and platform don't necessarily compete in the same way for gamers' dollars. I'd be surprised if Konami tried it, when Metal Gear would be so much more successful during a time of the year that isn't as congested with releases or has more people playing online multiplayer than any other time of the year. I mean, I, myself, don't like grinding out stuff online during Spring and Summer, because the weather's better, and that's just something that's best done during the Winter. I'll still buy an MGS game if it comes out during the holiday season, but I think it'd be stupid on their part, is all. Square used to do it with Final Fantasy, for example, but now, with XIII, they've only done it after the holidays. |
