Nisa realized that she had not met a cold, slimy fate at the claws of the blob-creature; she looked up, blinking a few times, surprised to see a man in between her and Arakune.

"...Huh? Yeah, I got my ass kicked. Ya think you could help me out a bit?"

She struggled to her feet, stepping up beside Desmond; she still had a bit of punch in her, but not much, and if she wasn't mistaken... that blob had infected her with some sort of seithr curse.

"Aww, shit."

What.
Arakune was caught off guard by Desmond's sudden entrance and attack. Feeling the slash hit with good accuracy, Arakune jumped back and away from the pair.

"Wh re y !? h t a yo oi g!? D n int f re, mb c le!"

With Nisa now cursed, Arakune's danger was boosted up to eleven. A ladybug as large as a barrel dropped down above Desmond's head as a fly and bee both flew in for an attack at him. Meanwhile, a centipede jumped up and tried to wrap itself around Nisa like a boa constrictor and a team of at least six cockroaches converged at her feet.

"Shit." Desmond muttered, concisely stating the position they were in. All those...little monsters flying at once! How could anyone stand up to that?

"Stay back! I won't be able to protect you! Just avoid those things!" Desmond shouted, phasing out. Now ephemeral, he had a short amount of time to get shit done.

Dashing as fast as he could, ignoring the bugs that passed through him, Desmond jumped, focusing his downward slash close to the mask the thing wore. It might not actually be a head, but it was a clear target, especially compared to the rest of the amorphous blob.

Nisa nodded once at Desmond, then struggled to break free of the centipede encircling her; she couldn't do that and block the roaches at the same time, so she settled for trying to tap-dance on the insects' heads.

It didn't work out so well. After a couple of steps, she flopped over, growling, Thunderflower crackling with electricity.

"Oh you little bastards!"

She set up a quick barrier ars to protect herself and then sent a jolt of electricity through her own body.

What.
Arakune was flabbergasted as Desmond suddenly disappeared. He was so caught off of guard that he didn't even use his stringer senses to detect him, meaning that Des was able to again get a good slash on Arakune. All of the bugs, including the one's attacking Nisa, dropped dead. Arakune jumped back again.

'Careful. Be careful. Carelessness is foolishness. Foolishness is ignorance. Ignorance is uselessness. Am not useless am not!'

A cricket jumped up on Desmond's head and began it's buzz, disorienting Des, before two spiders jumped on both legs, trying to paralyze him, and Arakune himself slashed at his throat with a claw. Meanwhile, all that went for Nisa was a slow moving worm.

Desmond was shocked, and struggled as the different attacks all came at him at once. He had hoped that the blob would have been fazed slightly after getting hit like that...no such luck, apparently.

Desmond focused his strength into his armagus, and called his attack, knowing he didn't have much time to waste, as he was already hit by the cricket.

"Revenant, WINGS!" He shouted, as pale-white batlike wings seemed to envelop him in a coccoon, and disappeared when Desmond walked through them, intangible.

Grunting at the loss of his strength, he ran up and grabbed Arakune, stabbing him and tossing him away. That ended the intangibility, so he ran back to help Nisa while the blob was distracted.

Nisa breathed a long sigh of relief, still a bit wired from the shock she gave herself. "Aw, thanks... man... uh... what's yer name?"

She stepped on the worm and went on the defensive; she couldn't fight anymore, so all that was left was staying alive long enough to retreat.

Desmond, ignoring her question, grabbed her arm.

"We can exchange pleasantries when we aren't going to die. Can you run? Or will I have to carry you?"

Looking at Arakune, he shrugged.

"He seems a bit distracted by my throw. We should escape now."

Nisa nodded once. "Yeah, I'll be fine. Let's hightail it outta here."

Desmond nodded, and began to run, not letting go of her hand, or allowing himself to look back. That would only slow them down, and if that blob caught up with them, it would likely be over quickly.

"Just keep running. Don't look back!"
