Heels tap lightly on the ground as Rachel descends from a portal, evening light streaming over her destination. Her parasol settles on her shoulder and she sighs as she dismisses the magical vortex she uses to convey herself and her allies. The Monoc compound stands before her in its ugly splendor, and she glances it over for a second, then picks out a window lit from inside, and opens a portal six inches past it and steps through. She lands steady-footed on the windowsill of a patient room, with a now-familiar bandanna'd man in the bed before her. "I would have words with you, Mr. Hetfield, providing you have a moment to devote to them." She says, quite politely, even as Nago seethes from the blackness of her dress. |

Rusty, meanwhile, had been staring at the ceiling, surrounded by notes for his potential new weapon. Every single page seemed to have ideas and specifications, but they all ended the same way. A massive X across the bottom indicating that he wouldn't go ahead with it. Nothing seemed to fit right. You really couldn't fall back on a plain old sword after wielding a magical firey shockwave axe guitar, it just wasn't natural progression. Groaning in frustration, a palm found it's way to his forehead. He'd been hitting the same stone wall over and over in his mind and it was pissing him of- If he could, he would have jumped six feet in the air as a dark portal opened itself in his room. Followed by a fairly young girl in the most ancient inspired dress he had ever seen. After recovering slightly, he gritted his teeth as the frustration mounted. "Y'know...getting a little fed up of random people I don't know barging into my room at the oddest of times." he growled, before the mechanic took a breath. Hang on, calm down. She hasn't done anything yet. And if she portal'd in here and didn't instantly go for my jugular means that she clearly only wants to talk for now. Let's pretend it's a customer. Heh, how long's it been since I've done THAT? Anyway, deep breath. "Sorry about that, miss." Rusty got out, taking said breath again and opening his eyes to face her. "And I'm free for the moment. I've been, err, indisposed at the moment due to certain events." the rocker said with a sheepish grin. "I'm guessing this is what this meeting is about?" |

"That, among others." Rachel acknowledges, sinking to a seat right on the windowsill. Her black familiar oozes under her and forms a perfect throne for her to sit on, seamlessly melding with the wall and ceiling as if it had always been a part of the architecture. "I am Rachel Alucard, Mr. Hetfield, and I have spent a dozen lifetimes attempting to topple the Librarium. And then, today, I hear a loose band of untrained men just walk through the defenses of a Cauldron and destroy it." She leans forward, lacing her fingers together and bridging them in front of her mouth. It is a menacing pose. "I am uncertain whether this is simple luck, astonishing skill, or a mixture of the two." |

"You can call me Rusty if it's easier, Miss Alucard." the mechanic informed her, still in customer politeness mode. The seat melding with the wall drew an impressed whistle from the rocker. He raised an eyebrow however. "Though you seem to have confused me a little. A dozen lifetimes? You seem to be a little young for that if you don't mind me saying." "It's because Rachel's a bitch. The vampire chick, I mean." Ragna sighs. "You were about the first person Tsubaki wanted to tell, but..." Rusty's eyes widened. "OH! You're THAT Rachel Alucard! That...actually clears up my earlier question. Ragna mentioned you were a vampire and on our side, basically. Seems you're the one with the plans most of the time." And also a stuck up bitch, but I'm going to reserve judgement on that. Ragna's word isn't gospel after all. Sitting up properly in his bed, displacing his notes, the mechanic continued. "I'm gonna call it luck on my part and skill on Monoc's. They're a damn good unit and I was the one with the least training. But the most reason to go for it, I suppose. Maybe that offset the skill difference. Um, did I throw a spanner in the works or something?" |

Rachel hummed. "Ragna. Unsurprising that he turns out to be my information leak. I shall deal with that at a later date." She leans back against her chair. "The Novis Orbus Librarium is an army, Mr. Hetfield." she explains quietly. "A quiscient one for the last century, but still one nonetheless. And with the appearance of a second force capable of destroying their bases, they have begun to mobilize. Previously, Ragna was a single man, and an army cannot be brought to bear against a man. It is the same scale as swinging a house at a mosquito. But a stable target like a shop, a business is something else." She shakes her head, blonde tresses rippling. "Quite beyond discovering your means of assaulting the Cauldron, I came to warn you if you are still within Wadatsumi when the army arrives in fourty-eight hours, you will die, as will anyone else of your association still present. The NOL has given up the pretense of control. They are now playing for keeps, as Ragna would say it." |

Rusty just stared, slack jawed. "Forty eight hours?! What the actual fuck?!" he swore aloud, before offering a quick apology to his visitor for his foul language. Questions raced through his mind, some worrying, some elated that he managed to disrupt the N.O.L so much. But the majority of them were worry. Honest. Groaning in frustration, he rubbed at his temple with one hand and gently grasped his Soul Pick with the other. "So what are they going to do then? Just going in and exterminating everyone that lives here? Go for interrogations on the townsfolk? Just siege the place until I come out with my hands up? God damn it." He was well aware he was close to panicking but he gently tried to calm himself down. "And my shop... it's basically dog meat at this point, isn't it? Hell, to be honest? Surprised it survived this long. But it's still got a lot of things of mine that may be insanely useful later on. Motherfuc- I mean, God damn it." He THUNK'd the back of his head against the wall, with no visible pain. Turning his head, he faced the vampire princess again. "What do you propose I do then? I'm still looking for a place to lie low for a while. Sector Seven's going to be busy with all this Library crap in Wadatsumi and I need to let Kokonoe know I'm alright. Not to mention people like Des, Nisa, Tsubaki, all the others that are in Wadatsumi. Dad's been recalled into service for the N.O.L, Mom's a wreck and my soul is currently inside a guitar pick. What the hell do I DO?!" He slumped a little. "...maybe I should have stayed in bed the day I ran the Death Leopard into the front doors..." |

Rachel inclines her head. "I am uncertain as to what, exactly, they will do, but it is at least certain the results will be unpleasant for all involved. The NOL does not have a gentle touch." She leans down to match Rust's gaze. "I came to propose a solution - an alliance of convenience. I am not a fool, Mr. Hetfield - you are not the calibre of men like Ragna the Bloodedge, Jin Kisaragi, Iron Tager, Master Valkenhayn. These are the individuals I have found myself arrayed beside against the Librarium. Yet, despite your limitations, you have managed to strike a blow more deadly than I have dealt in my time so far - and garner the personal loyalty of a Murakumo Unit. I will shield you and your allies until you have finished recuperating, so long as you agree to continue your crusade against the Novus Orbis Librarium once you are fit to do so." "I came to speak with you, Mr. Hetfield, because at its heart you are what motivates this group. Miss Nu is a broken girl, and Monoc and its commander are . . . tools, at best. They will do what you decide, because they trust you to have the morality, and humanity, they lack." Rachel's laser-sharp gaze pierces through Rust like a needle, hollowing him out. "And despite what I am sure you will say about the newly-detached state of your soul, it is essentially true. So: what do you think you will choose, Mr. Hetfield?" |

Rusty couldn't look away as Rachel spoke, her words sharp, to the point, but most importantly, right on the money. He would argue the fact that he had done such a deadly blow to the Library, after all, Ragna had taken care of quite a few before the mechanic had gone on to take care of the Wadatsumi branch. But, the talk of being the motivation of his group. His morality and humanity? He did bristle a bit at Rachel referring to his friends as mere tools. "Okay, I understand where you're coming from but if you would not disregard my friends from the offset like that? Much appreciated. I would never have been able to pull it off if Jagd hadn't pulled my ass out of that fire. Nu would still be a Duracell and I'd be riddled with bullets and buried in some ditch far away." "All in all though, you're right. I seem to have had the same conversation yesterday with a new friend of mine actually. He was telling me I was some symbol to the people or what not. Now you're telling me I'm basically the Heart of this little team you've got going on, despite basically gatecrashing the party." The rocker sighed, trying to arrange the whirlwind of thoughts in his head. You need to: A) Get out of the city in at least 48 hours B) Warn everyone you can to do the same C) Take up her offer. It's the best bet. "Miss Alucard," he eventually said, "I accept the offer of shielding. Err, I'm sorry if I sound like a complete idiot, but what do you mean by that? A new location? Maybe arrangements for sorting out the others? What do you have in mind?" He leaned forward, obviously interested. "I'm seriously all ears. I've got no idea where to even start here." |

Rachel releases a slow breath and leans back against her chair. "Honestly, Mr. Hetfield," she says, "I had been worried you would refuse." A pause, as she collects her thoughts. "I possess a mansion to which I can open portals of varying size." she begins. "I would take you, Miss Nu, and the Monoc mercenaries there before the army arrives, along with as many resources of your respective homes as I can manage. It is accessible only by portal, and thus you will be safe there until such a time as you and your allies have fully recovered. I offer much the same service to any I am affiliated with. Further plans can be discussed once you are out of the warpath." She offers a tiny smile. "You would meet the rest of my faction there as well. It would be good for you to meet the others who will fight alongside you." |

At the word 'fight', Rusty gave a "Tch" of slight derision. "Yeah right, Miss Alucard. Right now I'm bloody useless unless your mansion has a washing machine that needs the drum replacing or if there's a dirtbike that needs to be fixed. Can't even decide on a bloody weapon." he muttered tossing some failed notes in a bin that was already overflowing with scrunched up balls of paper. This time it was Rusty who paused as he collected his thoughts. 48 hours. Sounded a lot but he could only do a few things within that time frame and the problem was choosing what. Have to let people know, though Rachel can probably do that with her other allies or Jagd with the Monoc group. Have to get my tools. Can't make anything without them. Clothing and other essentials are a must, not food though. Rachel probably has that. Would a phone be helpful or even WORK in this mansion place? Hmm... ...woah, back up the crazy train a second. Rusty then turned and stared at Rachel. "...hang on. You managed to get VALKENHAYN onto your side? How is... But he's one of the Six Heroes! And Ragna was trained by one! How come you haven't steamrolled the N.O.L?" Then he stopped and thought for a moment, face showing signs of understanding. "Oh. It was because of something like M.A.D, wasn't it? If you had him or Jubei involved too much, the N.O.L would probably go overboard at some point trying to keep up, am I right?" |
