Micah nods. "Right. Here we go, then." He heads over to help. --- After checking his section of the cargo and making sure everything was secured to its pallets, Micah went over to check Ed one last time. The little King Charles Spaniel was calmly watching the proceedings from his dog carrier, looking almost bored, but he quickly perked up as his owner came over to him. "You alright, bud?" Micah reached in between the bars of the door, and Ed started licking his hand. "Heh. It's gonna get a bit hectic here in a moment or two. Don't worry, though. I'll let you hide when we're done." Ed almost seemed to understand, and he settled himself down on the mat at the bottom of the carrier, head rested on his paws. Standing up, Micah checked the clock anchored to one of the wall girders near the loading bay. "Ten minutes past. I was almost expecting to get interrupted. I wonder if they've been delayed?" A nervous tension hovered in the atmosphere as the group got to its final places. Micah pulled Fornax out of its bag and checked it before fishing a clip out of the ammunition bag. Locking the clip into place, he gently thumbed the bolt release. The bolt snapped shut with a clack that seemed to echo through the warehouse, loading a shell into the chamber. He made sure the safety was still on before replacing the gun bag on his shoulder with the gun itself, hanging across his abdomen as he stowed the gun bag in a container. Nearby, the others were doing much the same for their personal weapons of choice. Stephen had already loaded his sidearm, but he double-checked that it was properly loaded and safed before returning it to the hip holster he carried it in. He also had grabbed a rifle, an AR-15 or M16 - which it was would be discovered when it was fired - and had proceeded to run through much the same procedure on it that Micah had with Fornax. He moved to a post near the loading bay when he was done, carrying the rifle at the ready. Callie had a Glock of some unidentifiable model - possibly modified to suit her own needs - and she quickly checked and loaded it before returning it to its holster. Jack had pulled out an old 1911, which appeared pretty beat up but cycled smoothly when he went to load it, dumping it almost carelessly into a cross-draw holster afterwards - though not before making sure that the safety was set. Will had a compact Beretta M1935, which he slowly and carefully checked, and then he locked the clip into place with a bit too hard a slap - the noise startled him and he jumped a bit, though he had been careful enough to hold the gun properly and thus avoid risking an accidental trigger pull. Micah spoke up after everyone had prepared their weapons, saying, "Alright people, listen up. Let's do this like we planned. Callie, Jack, and Will, you are our loaders. Jack gets palletized cargo, Callie and Will get anything loose. Make as few trips as possible. Rawlins and I will provide cover from the loading bay door, and we'll likely have cover from the Brigand as well. Lang, you make sure that nobody comes in through the front - hopefully nobody will come around behind us, but you never know. Let's all keep calm, stay steady, and we'll be through this before you know it. Everyone ready?" As he said this, he was crossing the warehouse to stand next to the loading bay door, opposite where Stephen was. His speech met with positive responses from his team, so he crouched down to unlock the gate. As he stood up, he grabbed the chain that would crank it up when the time came. Nodding to Micah's command, Desmond walks over to the door he's going to be guarding, and sits down next to it. Despite appearing to be resting, his body is like a coiled spring, ready to jump into action at a moments notice. With some time left on their hands with nothing else to do, Desmond does something he hasn't done in a long, long time. Desmond prays. He's never been particularly observant, but hell, a little divine intervention never hurt anyone, did it? Smirking slightly, he faces west. Hopefully, the Almighty would forgive him for failing to perform Wudu. |

The door hauls up, to reveal a single man sitting against the door. He falls inward and almost cracks his head on the concrete when his back support vanishes. "Oh shit!" he laughs, and bounces up off the ground in a scramble, facing the group. He scratches his head sheepishly and then plants a fist on his hip. "Y'all done? Noncombatants gone? Guns cocked and ready?" The speaker is a olive-skinned man with a deep and resonant voice, white teeth sparkling behind his lips. He wears a simple white shirt and brown pants without further ornament, and he sways and bobs helplessly, restless and energetic. His only accessory is a band of silver on his left hand's ring finger, like a wedding ring. "Now I gotta ask y'all, is this going peacefully?" he asks to the group at large. "I'll personally make sure nothing goes wrong. Most of ya are citizens, not party to all the bad business. This is bad politics all the way around, 'n I'd prefer to keep the good working people out'a the mess." |

Weapons swing in the newcomer's direction, but Micah holds his hand up in a 'hold your fire' gesture. Keeping his other hand on Fornax's grip, Micah says, "Who are you? You're not who we were expecting." |

Desmond holds himself still, continuing to pray until he's needed, but coiling himself up to strike. With any luck, the man didn't notice him. He's much more effective unseen, after all. |

The man slides his thumbs into his pockets and bounces on the balls of his feet. "I bet." he said with a friendly nod. "But I'm trying 'ta handle things light here. You all - well, excepting you I guess," he pokes a finger at Desmond, "Are civilians. I really don't like how most of my people handle noncoms, so I'm doing it myself." He takes a step back and jacks a thumb back up at the massive sphere in the sky. "Basically? That's my pad. I can take y'all on a free tour, how's that? You just tell me if Jagd and his pals are still in town or not. That's all I need to know. That's fair, right?" |

Micah's tone is none-too-pleasant as he says, "Sir, I believe we have a misunderstanding here. Whatever connection this establishment might have with Mr. Metschulin and his company is strictly business in nature. It is not necessary for me to know his whereabouts or the whereabouts of his crew. I send Monoc's orders to a specified address, and a representative of Monoc comes to the store when they need to discuss something with me." Hand starting to edge towards Fornax's forestock, he continues, "I will have to kindly turn down your offer. I would also kindly ask that you remove yourself from my property immediately. While I will try to remain reasonable, I feel threatened by your presence here, and I would really hate being forced to defend myself against that threat." |

Seeing that the man both knew his name and position, Desmond finished his prayer. He decided not to waste time, as each second he waited could be the second a member of Sureshot lost their lives. "If it will spare these noncombatants, I would agree to accompany you. Though I know what you inevitably have planned for me, endangering innocents to protect myself would be against my beliefs." |

The olive-skinned man blinks at Micah. "You're saying too many words." he comments. "I'm smellin' bullshit." Then he turns to Desmond and nods companionably. "Alright, Desmond, we can deal. I happen to know that all the rest of y'all got away just fine, and that's kinda irritating me. Let's talk terms. Micah, neighbor - don't fire that gun, I'd take it as a kindness." The man walks up in front of Desmond and nods once. "Here's what I'm thinking. I want you to freely offer me any information I wish, and follow me up to Arcturus, and stay there for a duration I define, where you will not harm me or those under my command until said duration expires." "In exchange, I don't follow, harm, or malign these people present again for any crimes, suspicions, or personal grudges that have occurred prior to the beginning of the duration of your stay aboard Arcturus. I will also promise to not harm you in any way during the duration of your stay." He smiles. "Basically, you come and talk with me, and all these people walk with a general pardon. I get information, they don't have to worry about the NOL in any way, so long as they keep their noses clean from now on. Sound fair?" |

Micah growls. "Excuse me. I believe I just asked you to remove yourself from these premises. As you are an officer of the 'law', you probably know, that counts as a prohibition to enter. A prohibition to enter can only be breached if you have a valid warrant. May I see your warrant?"
