"A self sacrificing being of that much power... How much damage, theoretically, could she cause solo? Are we talking level with Terumi? Or even to the level of the Black Beast itself?" Tager asked, eyebrows furrowed in thought. "And who is Terumi's lifelink with at the moment anyway? At our last approximation, it was with Lieutenant Vermillion. Did Ragna manage to break it when he forcibly converted her back from her Kusanagi state?" Valkenhayn, who had been mostly silent thus far, then interjected. "Madam Rachel, a question. This talk of lifelinks... didn't Ragna have one with the Murakumo himself? For the first set of timeloops, she would not die, no matter how many times she was struck down. Even being absorbed into the Kagutsuchi Cauldron couldn't kill her, she came back through Sector Seven's Lambda Unit and sheer force of will." |

Hakumen brooded on both points. "Such power...and a will to use it even at the cost of death," he says slowly, "Red Devil, that girl could bring the very world to it's knees before she breathes her last- Terumi be damned." His voice grows distant, and if possible, colder, "Power not seen since the Black Beast roamed free." His faceless visage turns to Ragna. "Again Black Beast, you delay your end," he grumbles quietly, "Provided you do not expire the moment Nu does." He heaves a sigh, the crushing weight of ages past weighing on his shoulder and says, "I have cut my own path, but I will relent to circumstance this time; my blade is at your disposal." He unsheathes his massive sword and points it respectfully at Ragna's feet. "But your end will come- make no mistake." He looks the criminal in the eye and adds sharply, "I will make sure of it." He looks quickly at Rachel and adds, "And you will not intervene." |

Rachel's face is a mask like porcelain, and she stares at Hakumen like she would some foul throwback she had only just recalled. "I had forgotten how single-mindedly offensive you were." she says, soft. "And how desperately you defend your little throne of power. How hateful you are, that you see only ruin in every potential. Sir Hakumen, I have the greatest of respect for you, but you must learn again that the burden of the future is something you cannot steal from the young. They will bear it eventually, regardless of your wishes." Rachel shakes her head turns from Hakumen to Tager. "I am uncertain of Nu's limits, but, if they exist, I do not know of them." She sighs. " . . . Likewise, I do not understand how lifelinks form, aside from Terumi apparent ability to cause them, and that they are endemic to Murakumo. I suspect it has something to do with the forging process, but there are too many variables to be certain." "What I can reasonably suspect is that Nu still possesses a lifelink, that it is currently broken or uncoupled - somehow, I know not the method - since she does not display the enhanced healing factor it grants, and that Terumi might be able to take advantage of this." |

Ragna just rolls his eyes; he'd heard that shit enough times for it to lose meaning. Tsubaki gives Hakumen a striking glare. "Sir Hakumen, you are one of greatest heroes and I have nothing but respect for you. However, if you so much as lift a finger against Ragna, you will be fighting me as well." With a sigh, she turns to Rachel, surprised that the vampire knows so little about life-links. "According to Master Jubei, life-links are formed through pure magic; Nine created a good number of them. However..." "Means that the only normal way to break them is another spell. We got any mages lying around?" Edited by Velvien, Jul 28 2012, 05:34 PM.

Valkenhayn eyed the small threats being thrown with a sharp gaze but said nothing. He had already contributed and Hakumen was more than capable of handling himself should an argument break out in full. He did however, sigh at Rachel's answer. "I see. I had hoped that maybe so long as one of the two remained at the manor at all times, the other would be functionally immortal, despite the obvious downsides. An optimistic outlook, I will admit." Tager, meanwhile, had heard what Ragna had said. "Kokonoe has been working on replicating magic's effects with science. And let's be honest here, she's the closest out of anyone to cracking this. Despite her...grievances about it, she does hold extremely powerful magic in her veins. If she can complete her research, she may find a way to break lifelinks as easily as Terumi can create them. However, without her physically present, that will be a faint hope at best." The scarlet giant hmm'd in thought. "Rachel, another thought, seperate from the Murakumo discussion. Whilst your mansion is spacious enough to contain all of us, how is it at resources? Just for a start, Monoc is going to need bullets and weaponry. Can the mansion produce it's own, or will we have to raid the N.O.L for supplies? |

Hakumen too ignores the reprimands from all sides. He had set forth for himself goals and ideologies to uphold, and nothing would stop that or change it. With a bite of impatience in his tone, he asks, "And where then do we find the Grimalkin? Has Sector Seven been compromised? Or has she perhaps thought it best to vacate it's premises?" |

"I am a mage, but my condition disqualifies me from experimenting with soul magic." Rachel sighs. "It is the cause of my relative ignorance towards life links - it is a branch of magic reserved for the living. We must look elsewhere for talent in this area." "As for resources, I am capable of manifesting an abundance of any raw material, but not complex machined tools such as the mercenaries likely require. They will require their own tools for such, I imagine, although the late-coming Sureshot group seems to have provided that. They shall have to look to pillaging NOL assets for the rest." As she can't answer Hakumen's question, she simply glances at Tager and inclines her head. |

"Sector Seven's whereabouts thus far are unknown. Kokonoe can hear us here, but for some reason, she is unable to contribute to this discussion. My best guess is that when the N.O.L attacked Wadatsumi, she and her top scientists managed to either vacate the area and retreat to an undisclosed loaction, or bunkered down and weathered the assault. I was trying to locate a radio or television in order to observe from here what goes on in the 8th City." Tager responded confidently. "However, now that everyone is here... Rachel, do you happen to have a scrying apparatus of some description?" Valkenhayn looked to Rachel, a slight hint of worry on his face. "Milady, if you wish to recover some more, I may be able to perform such a spell if need be." |

Hakumen considers the situation carefully and asks finally, "Perhaps reconnaissance of some sort? Information about the Grimalkin's condition, and whether her lab still persists or not would be of great use. Irritating and arrogant as that cat may be, I am willing to discover what has become of her and her lab." |

Rachel offers a tiny smile to her butler. "No. It costs me nothing to scry within the bounds of my own mansion, but thank you, Valkenhayn. Tager, I am fully capable of such an effort. What is it you wish to discover?" She glances at Hakumen and shakes her head slowly. "I believe, Hakumen, that considering Kokonoe's apparent safety, your might could be put to better use - such as discovering the nature of whatever force occludes Ookuto now. It has vanished from my sight, and the mundane world entirely. You are one of the few experienced enough with the Boundary to penetrate it, and skilled enough to survive and return." |
